I love horror movies. I also love their soundtracks. It always amazes me how many soundtracks to great (and...not so great) horror movies end up going out of print! A well-crafted horror movie soundtrack can be just as memorable and creepy as the movie's villain. Think of a movie like Jaws or Halloween , those movies are scarier because of their amazing scores! It's a shame that so many soundtracks to lesser horror films have become lost over the years. While I'll be the first to admit that none of the soundtracks I'm [...]

I'm spring cleaning the 'ol box.net account. I uploaded these files of the Gremlin theme over the christmas period after being reminded how good the Gremlins theme is. Now I'm postin' 'em here for you to enjoy. Jerry Goldsmith - The Gremlin Rag Jerry Goldsmith - Mrs. Deagle Composed by the late Jerry Goldsmith. Wot a ledge.

Jerry Goldsmith: The Droid [purchase] Ridley Scott's Alien is one of my favorite films of all times. While often labelled a science fiction films, it's really just a classic haunted house horror slasher in disguise. Jerry Goldsmith's ingenious score plays a huge part in giving the film it's harrowing quality, and when trying to think of ways to describe it all I could muster were random words such as oppressive, claustrophobic, chaotic, unpredictable, discordant, terrifying and sneaky. Listen to the [...]

I think the title explains this one well enough. It's music from the greatest television series ever conceived. The main title for the first season was written by Bernard Herrmann, who also scored several episodes of the show. Jerry Goldsmith , and Marius Contant , who also wrote a version of the main title for the show. Various Artists The Best of Rod Serling's The Twilight Zone: Original Television Scores MediaFire DL Link Tracklist: 01. Marius Contant - Main Title [...]

"Forget it, Jake. It's Chinatown." Written by Robert Towne, directed by Roman Polanski and starring Jack Nicholson, Chinatown undoubtedly stands as one of the greatest films of the twentieth century. Classic film noir, on a base level, Chinatown tells the story of private detective J.J. 'Jake' Gittes as he attempts to solve what (at the [...]
In honor of the late Charlton Heston, here's what may very be the greatest scene ever committed to film, at least from a purely retrological standpoint. Heston. Vincent Price. John Derek. Flagellation. A fight to the death. If the actual scripture hewed closer to what Cecil B. DeMille presented in The Ten Commandments , I might not have discarded my faith. "His...powers...of hammy acting...are greater...than...my own...aarggh!!!!" Rest in peace, Chuck. Fuck Conor Oberst, you'll always be the one true Bright Eyes [...]

Still on the soundtrack theme, I found this curious little dex . It's curious because apart from the obligatory Philip Glass and Tangerine Dream , is also some sort of "classic" Hollywood action film soundtrack MP3s. The bitrate is abysmal, but the main theme to Rambo 2 is on here. And so is a godawful, obvious love scene MP3 called " Skyline " from the soundtrack to Cobra. Cobra . Jeez, that takes me back. Based on the amount of sequels Stallone has been shitting out [...]

I love films. I could rabbit on about them for some considerable time. I also love film soundtracks and scores. This three of a kind entry is dedicated to three of my favourite bits of film scoring. I had to leave Ennio Morricone out of my choices otherwise it would have been a fourty-two of a kind, and I haven't chosen anything from musicals either. I am a bit of a fan of musicals (is that another one of my guilty secrets that slipped out?) but that's for a different entry, I think. Anyway, first we have my [...]

This edition is my favorite so far. I think most of you will be as shocked as I was to hear some of these tracks. I couldn't have put this together without the inspiration from the girl Elizabeth - she put it well: as you hear these tracks you'll either decide Daft Punk isn't as genius as you thought they were or that they're twice as amazing. I just know that for any Daft Punk fan out there- these tracks are essential. In other words, don't skip this one. [...]
