We're making up for missing out on yesterdays post by winging out four choices courtesy of the FAUX DJs . Know to their mums as Scott and Mark , the FAUX fellas play at a bunch of nights round Belfast. They do every Wednesday in Lavery's Bunker as OMGWTFDISCO , every Saturday at Science in Auntie Annie's , and they also man one of the rooms of Club AU . Their picks are all sweet, but Jeru The Damaja is my personal fave, such a frickin' tune. [...]

So imagine my reaction when DJ Knife from Fresh Produce alerted me that Jeru has signed on to DJ at Good Life this month. Personally, I'm always down for sample-heavy true school, throwback scratch tactics, and misanthropic rhymes galore. But my concern was for the dance-shoed boogie nighthawks who frequent Fresh Produce and who, I presume, don't enjoy spending Saturday evenings acting tough with their feet planted and heads nodding. Fortunately for them, Jeru isn't the incendiary hater that I had good reason to believe he was. [...]
DJing @ the JumpTheTurnstyle.com Sponsored Fresh Produce this Saturday.. JERU THE FUCKING DAMAJA Oh.. and .. it's FREE. FYL if you miss this. More info coming soon..

Yesterday, instead of heading back to New York as I originally intended to do, I found myself at Marshall Law 's studio in DC practicing my scratches for 5 hours. It was a great session!!!! In addition to feeling crazy strong with my left hand (LOL), Marsh showed me this clip of GangStarr Foundation in D&D Studio with Fab Five Freddy . What's great about this footage is that the main speaker for the crew is DJ Premier . DJs don't usually do the talking, so it was refreshing [...]

In less then a week I will be hitting up New York, staying near Julliard with my childhood friend Devon Guthrie and will be also venturing to Williamsburg to meet up with my talented photographer pal Matthew Craig ....also will link up with BENNY B and check out his Wedsneday party HUMPIN' AROUND. So to prepare for my trip I want to have a proper playlist to listen to while wandering around! So I'm posting some NY appropriate jamz that I will be putting on my iPod. Inna Citi Life-Group [...]

Jeru The Damaja : Mental Stamina [ purchase ] "Watch the style but also peep the lyrics, my lightning, my thunder..." About time for some hiphop here at the Starmaker Machine, so let´s hand over the mic to Jeru The Damaja, self-proclaimed ´phonetician with more stamina than a Christian, my mind C3 H5 N3 O9 like nitroglycerine...´ Jeru hails from Brooklyn and started out as a protege of Gang Starr, whose DJ Premier produced [...]
Vid directed by Fred Savage for the TV show It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia. If you've ever seen the show, then you've got an idea of what to expect when you press play on this video. For those of you who haven't...well...

Any serious discussion of East Coast hip hop and rap music must begin with reference to the legendary DJ Premier. Preemo, as he was affectionately known by the various emcees he worked with throughout his career, revolutionized the hip hop beat with his simplistic use of a punchy two bar breakbeat. His greatest contribution, however, may have been in the incorporation of vocal scratching into the rap producer's arsenal. His wide-ranging choice of samples also being a point of interest, it is mainly the perfecting of the scratch technique, that crazy wiki wiki sound, that has cemented DJ [...]

It's been like three months since I served up some old school NYC boom-bap for ya... wassupwiddat? Jeru The Damaja is probably not a name you've heard too much of recently, but he is certainly a memorable MC of the early '90s. He's got one of those great gravelly voices and his first two albums, produced by none other than DJ Premier, rank as essential releases of the era. But then, it seems, he kinda started acting like a cock, pissed off Primo, and faded into semi-obscurity. [...]
So I downloaded all these amazing 90's hip hop tracks I used to love when I was younger, for this DJ gig I was supposed to do on New Year's. So check out some 5 classic hip hop tracks: 1992 - Showbiz and A.G. - Soul Clap (Short Version) . 1992 - Diamond D and The Psychotic Neurotics - Best Kept Secret . 1992 - Das Efx [...]

<img src=" http://img110.imageshack.us/im g110/5140/590fg6.jpg" alt="Oh Word" I'm slowly working my way through the week's worth of mega-posts from the always on-point Oh Word , some classic underexposed hiphop joints given their dues. Most of the tracks are completely new to me (there's stuff off soundtracks, remixes, slept-on albums etc) and I'm enjoying the education. To save on their bandwidth I've upped a couple of my favourites so far: Jeru The Damaja – Seinfeld (MP3) : Alt Link Pete [...]

Part two of my year end ('06) clean-up covers some of the performances I never got around to publishing when I should have... End of Year ('06) Clean Up Part 1 Lord Jamar & Sadat X @ Webster Hall 8/18/06 I can't say I'm familiar with Lord Jamar's solo material. The same could be said for a lot of the crowd at Webster Hall. Even so, Lord Jamar was given tremendous respect by the crowd for being a [...]
(Via Nah Right ) If anyone thinks I'm stealing concepts from Flood Watch , that's not how it's going down. We're just telepathically channeling the same music, which leads me to the Crooklyn Dodgers. They're back to let the world know Brooklyn Keeps on Taking It. I'm not sure when part three was released, but I discovered it a few days ago. According to All Hip-Hop.com, 9th Wonder ft. Mos Def, Jean Grae, Memphis Bleek and DJ Premier are checking in for Team Brooklyn, on what is now a saga that [...]
