13th October @ The Cube Bristol Jessica Rylan was being eaten up by a flu bug, having just woken from the back of a van... brandishing a few glasses of medicinal brandy. She chatted in fragmented thought, post arms race concerns, anti-anarchy... a cough here and there ...she proclaimed a liking for chaos over noise, started the circuitry then decided to append the previous conversation... She laughed to herself at the pointless [...]
Marty McSorley showed me this CD a few weeks back, and I was completely blown away - as powerful as this simple concept is, there are precious few examples of appropriation music that simply take a crappy song and blow it out. To me, there's no better possible music than this! Can't Vs. The World , posted in its entirety here, was an early project of Jessica Rylan , who's gone on to collaborate with tons of top-notch improvisers, participate in the bent festival, learn to build synths as an electronic music MFA, and release a ton of...well, [...]

Felix Kubin & Jessica Rylan : the deadpan spoken word stuff wasn't especially my kinda thing, but all the crazy electronics, muy amazing, and Jessica's voice, always intense Felix Kubin & Keith Fullerton Whitman : cosmic cavemen playing Kerplunk, air bubbles popping underwater, malfunctioning retro sci-fi equipment And the best part of the evening, Kubin did a live score to René Clair's silent short from 1924, Entr'acte . Totally awesome. But no photos, obviously. More photos on Flickr . [...]

Intransitive Recordings once again put on the coolest New Years Eve event in Boston. I promise nothing you did last night was as fun as this show. Plus, they were selling the debut release from the new Intransitive offshoot, Songs From Under The Floorboards, which will be issuing limited edition hand made art CD-Rs and tapes and such. The first one is Kyle Bobby Dunn's The Intimate Rituals Of... and it's absolutely gorgeous. Anyway, here are some photos I shot last night. There are tons more on Flickr . [...]

I just liked the pun originally but now I want one of these bad boys: as designed by noise monster-girl (sound artist) Jessica Rylan (who seems to have kind of reinvented the noise genre, with added swirls and flourishes and less of the My Dad's Bigger Than Your Dad vocalising) and used by her and Cody Renaldo (son of Lee, from Sonic Youth) and others I hadn't heard of like Tara Rogers . There's a few MP3s of the [...]
mix1 (brent) 01 : kiiiiii // k&7is ( kiiiiiii ) 02 : Miaou // Boom 0 ( miaou music ) 03 : Te' // Anxiety is not about the issue. It is actually about people's 'mind' related to the issue that they are afraid of. ( Te' official web site ) 04 : MONTAG // Alice (instrumental demo) ( montag ) [...]

A superb noise recording from Joe Colley (Crawl Unit)/ Jessica Rylan (Can't) / Kevin Drumm all served up for download over at Excentrica.org ... ...especially liking the vocal skip of Jessica's contribution
