We all have friends on Twitter, right? Sure you do! Well, one of my Twitter friends, Burton Parker ( @welvis ), on occasion, tweets from the future. Most of the time it’s fairly asinine, but there are some genuine moments of hilarity. So for this week's Friday Top Five I decided to jock Burton’s style and recall some of my favorite moments from 2009’s Fun Fun Fun Fest…from the future! 5. David Yow , The Jesus [...]
Mastering Engineer at Chicago Mastering Service Bob Weston talks shop about the analog to digital transfers that made the Jesus Lizard reissues sound better and louder
Former Atlanta drummer McNeilly talks about life before and after the Jesus Lizard, and restoring the band's legacy
When one gets the opportunity to speak to a legendary band such as The Jesus Lizard , one most make the most of that opportunity with some quality questions. Oh and questions about Halloween costumes... Such was the task assigned to us when we had the chance to send 5 questions to veteran bass player and founding The Jesus Lizard member David Sims . I think you'll find that David still likes to keep things pretty old school. Follow the jump for full interview. [...]
Touch & Go reissues catalog timed with reunion tour

Anyone familiar with The Airing of Grievances (no, we are not talking about Festivus) knows that Titus Andronicus' Patrick Stickles is not kidding around. At times, he's a bit tormented, and possibly crazy, but honestly, a very logical, good-hearted and extremely bright young chap. So when the self-proclaimed cool kids at VICE decide to throw an irony fueled, 1994-themed Halloween party at a warehouse in Williamsburg and ask Titus to perform Weezer covers after Bad Brains and Jesus Lizard play, it's safe to say it's going to be a pretty good night. Wrong. At least, according [...]
When Mission of Burma reunited in 2002, they followed up a series of well-received shows with a brand spanking new full-length, OnOffOn , in 2004. Fans were probably even more surprised when the group dropped the absolutely bone-crushing The Obliterati after their laps in 2006, and now, three years later, yet another new full-length, The Sound, The Speed, The Light arrives seemingly out of nowhere.
Here's some shit to do tonight. Good fucking luck getting into the VICE party.

In less than a week from now, Fun Fun Fun Fest or the “Greatest. Festival. Ever,” as dubbed by credible music blog the Brooklyn Vegan will take over Waterloo Park. The ultra cool hipster’s wet dream features acts such as Crystal Castles, Of Montreal, Ratatat, Cool Kids, HEALTH, Atlas Sound and Les Savy Fav to name a few. This year’s highlights include Danzig, formerly of the Misfits, recently reunited 1970’s Detroit punk rock band DEATH and alternative rockers The Jesus Lizard, who originally formed in Austin back in the 80’s. The fourth annual music fest [...]

Austin's Fun Fun Fun Fest adds new on-site activities in addition to their epic set-list, including a skate ramp and a mechanical bull.

Here's another Halloween party I'm probably not cool enough to get into. (Read the info below to find out how to win tickets.) Hey NYC, By now you have probably heard that we are throwing the party to end all parties this Halloween to celebrate VICE Magazine's 15th birthday. This is a private affair, but we're kicking-off a contest to win tickets to the Vice 15 year this October 31st. Winners will be notified by email and will be placed on a [...]

Zigzagging between puddles, I walked hesitantly down 13th Avenue toward The Crystal Ballroom , motivated purely by the thought of my dear friend, Jonathon, waiting patiently for me inside. Though I had never seen, nor listened to these guys, and even though Jonathon had seen them four times before, he insisted that the Jesus Lizard would be the “greatest concert experience of your life.” I scoffed at his audacious prediction but, after weeks of his incessant begging, I agreed to go. Basilisks are lizards from Latin America who sometimes run like bipeds across [...]

I started off Friday night meeting up with friends at hipster hole the Cha Cha. I make fun of the Cha Cha, but I actually like drinking there, it's dark and has a zillion things to look at (beyond people watching). It was actually a bit of an older less hipster crowd that night, probably because other folks were getting their drink on pre-Jesus Lizard there as well. When my friends I were primed and ready we headed over Neumos. We just missed Black Elk, who I think are good, but nothing special. I ran into Suze right off the [...]
