From an email regarding today's 1.6 rating of their self-titled full-length:

Recording from Atlantic Sound studio in Brooklyn, Jet has given fans an update, via video, on the progress of their forthcoming album. On the video that band says they are currently hard at work on the follow-up to 2006's ' Shine On ' writing new material both individually and as a group. The band, however, did not reveal a release date or a name for the forthcoming album. Jet ShareThis
Question: Who is this quote describing?: "He doesn't want to be our congressman anymore. It's clear he's left the building. The guy's got Hollywood fever, and that would be fine if he was using his national stature to actually get things done." That is a quote from Cleveland City Councilman Joe Cimperman, describing Dennis Kuchinich who is having some trouble holding on to his seat in Congress. Cimperman is running against everyone's favorite peacenik in the Democratic primary...and he is actually doing pretty well. The Flaming Lips [...]

I've got lots of work this week, and I also have to organize a weekend trip for 15 people for next weekend, so I really won't be able to put up a proper post this week. Therefore I've decided to take a blog holiday until next week. I've got a few things lined up for you, so if I can find some time this week, I will use it to prepare and polish that stuff. If all goes well, I'll be back here on August 20th (probably with a big hangover from the weekend...); hope you will visit me again [...]
It's so awesome when you can hear a wide range of sounds from one band. It doesn't happen often enough, bands will stick to one genre and one type of sound as if they are afraid to step out of their little box. Jet is not one of those bands. Having three of four sets of vocal pipes contributing probably helps with their reach and I am all for it. Nic Cester Guitar/vocals, Chris Cester Drums/
Relationships do strange things to people. Make you do things you wouldn't normally. So here I am, accompanying my girlfriend to a Jet gig. Surrounded by Jet fans. Their arms in the air. Their voices singing word for word. Cheering. Clapping. Occasionally moving. And here I am, completely at odds with everyone around me. Never have I felt so disconnected to a room full of people. For every moment of enjoyment they have, my boredom rises. My feet ache. My attention wanders. Not that you can actually fault Jet's performance. They hit [...]

Oh, you are seeing correctly. Mastercard has teamed up with the Sk8er Grrrrl and this is the result! You can get your very own (I know you're dying for it) in a few short months. No word yet on what other pop stars will get their face on the card. Oh, come on, don't giggle. You know you want an Arcade Fire one!! MP3: Jet - Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is

"Tearaway" (Decca, 1979) The Jets, a popular name for a band (count them!), this bunch on Decca weren't any of the others, unless there's something I don't know about. Decca were hardly the force they had been during the 60's, but someone at the label had a good ear, first Airship's pseudo-punk classic "Get Out, Take Your Mother With You", then this killer powerpopper from The Jets. Despite Decca's then assistant label [...]

Oasis - Lord Don't Slow Me Down [...]

I can’t believe I’m saying this but the new Jet album isn’t that bad. It’s a shame that I find this surprising because I used to be quite a big fan of Jet. Their performance at Big Day Out 2004 was a favourite and even today it’s hard to deny that their first album was pretty impressive. But like so many others, I turned against them due to either the direction they took or the nature of their newfound fans. I expected and almost hoped that their second record would be a failure. I put down the 4-year [...]

J et is a band (I had to read that on their website). They have a new album, Shine On, that came out on major release day 3October. ++If you want one I have a limited edition picture disc of the sophomore release (just comment or send an email with Jet vinyl in the subject).++ Being a band that sells a ton of records with your first release puts a lot of pressure and high expectations on the second release to excede what may be reasonable. Rating:2.9/10 Modern Music Review Here is a cranky review, insincere rock n' roll (mostly fake) music will crush your world! It made me to remember one the biggest name Frank Zappa's "We're Only in It for the Money" A real rock n' roll soul lies there. But in this record -- A little from there,a little from here,They make me nervous with their new "Shine On" (2006).Is it really cruel to say i hate
Nope, not B. Flow's latest bit of verbal diarrhea ('cause that would be as stupid as likening himself to Beethove ... oh, never mind). This bit of comical conceit comes from Jet's drummer, the quotable Chris Cester, at the band's...
Hello again- I've risen from the virtual dead to write this blog again. With school having started a few weeks ago, it has been extremely difficult just to take the time, sit down, and write anything. At this point, I'm not quite sure what to write about. So many things to discuss but I'll focus on a few. I apologize-Hopefully, posts will be much more frequent now. "Down to Business" Okay, let's see. I've been listening to the new JET album, and I don't [...]
It was quite a fine Tuesday today for us music lovers. Today saw the major label debut of The Decemberists for the indie-loving world and highly-anticipated sophomore outings from Jet and The Killers . Oh, and that Beck guy put out a new album too. I've had the chance to sit down and listen to The Crane Wife (Decemberists) and Shine On (Jet) so far. I don't really have an interest in The Killer's new album...sorry kids, I just don't think their guarantees of it being the [...]
Alright, so the blogging world is still laughing histerically over Pitchfork's review of the new Jet album. In case you haven't seen the review - check it out here. Thanks to YouTube and other forms of media today, this may be the greatest album review of all time. It pretty much summed [...]
