It's hard to believe he's not with us anymore because aside from not being able to tour anymore, for obvious reasons, there's been a steady output of unreleased music released since his death. For Jimi fans, you'll really want to grab a copy of the 4 CD/1 DVD [...]
According to Wikipedia: James Marshall Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix and known as Jimi Hendrix) (November 27, 1942 – September 18, 1970) was an American guitarist, singer and songwriter whose guitar playing was influential on rock music. He is widely considered to be the greatest guitarist in musical history, and one of the most influential musicians of his era across a range of genres. One of my favorite Hendrix albums is "Blues" it is outstanding in my opinion. Song Title Time 1. Hear My Train A Comin' (Acoustic) 3:05 2. Born Under A [...]
"Jimi Hendrix sent the following letter to Reprise Records in September of 1968. It was essentially a set of fairly strict instructions with regard to the sleeve design of his forthcoming record, Electric Ladyland : a photo of the band surrounded by kids in Central Park, taken by Linda McCartney , was to feature on the front cover; various other black and white shots, by Eddie Kramer , were also to grace the packaging; as was a poem entitled "Letter to the room full of mirrors,". Popa Chubby serves up a big ol' hunk of blues-rock to NYC.

As the trial of Michael Jackson's former doctor Conrad Murray wears on, Forbes reports that the onetime King Of Pop is #1 on the publication's annual list of Top-Earning Dead Celebrities. It's the second year in a row the music legend has topped the list, though Forbes points out that the $170 million his estate raked in over the past 12 months, via sales of his music and his stake in the Sony/ATV catalog, is a steep drop from the $275 million that landed Jackson at #1 on last year's [...]
Some of the best stories are told through music. It's been a while since I posted so I'd like to tell a little story of my own through songs. Bear with me because this is going to be a loose interpretation. I've been in a funk for the last month or so. Not the good, James Brown kind of funk; the kind of funk where you don't want to get off the couch. There are lots of reasons but I won't bore you with the details. Let's just say it's time to make some changes, whether [...]
In the post-Sgt Pepper era when rock n roll got "serious", the single was thought to be kids stuff and not a sufficient medium to relay a "heavy" message, ushering in the album rock era. While the album era certainly yielded its share of excellent LP's, it also encouraged excess. Jimi Hendrix was the consummate artist; one that put great care into what he released in his lifetime, and of course the LP's released in which he had creative control are nearly flawless. I can easily put on Hendrix LP's (of which I have listened to literally hundreds [...]
Michael Winslow is probably best known as the guy who makes funny noises in the Police Academy movies (winner of more Oscars than any other franchise in history), but I prefer to remember him as the "I've lost the bleeps, I lost the sweeps, and I lost the creeps" dude from Spaceballs. However you remember [...]
Andy Timmons goes psychedelic, paying homage to Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
FUZZ is probably the best way to describe band Radio Moscow, and fuzz is what you get. Coming from their just released album (amazingly) titled The Great Escape of Leslie Magnafuzz, the song "Speedfreak" is a great example of how far you can go with FUZZ. If you don't find yourself banging your head at the 2:00 minute mark, I'm fairly certain you're clinically dead. With wailing guitars, a funky
Live and (mostly) prime Hendrix. 'Nuff said. So I get this one, and I'm thinking, what the hell? Another Hendrix album? How many of them are there are now? I swear, Hendrix is like the Tupac Shakur of the 1960s; he was only making music for a short time toward the end of his life, but every few years they release another album of "previously unheard" material or reissue some obscure live album or compilation or something (I wonder if they'll still...
Ladies and gentlemen, we have a shocking development in the stuffy confines of the Supreme Court of the United States: We have court justices who know who Jimi Hendrix is. That's right: At least one of the nine people who ultimately decide our laws is aware of Jimi Hendrix, and specifically will use him to talk about copyright laws. To wit: Last week, in the case Golan v. Holder, the court is considering whether or not an act of congress in 1994 that reestablished copyright protection for foreign works that were considered part of the public domain (such [...]
With a musical style reminiscent of American guitar legend, Jimi Hendrix, Gary Clark, Jr. has been considered to be the leader of the rock movement in Austin, Texas and has burst into the industry with his latest release, "The Bright Lights EP." With a delicious blend of rock, soul, and blues, Clark has portrayed the ability to distinguish himself from the heavily saturated music industry and immerse his talent in an explorative array of various genres. Beginning his career by playing at small gigs throughout his teenage years, Clark has developed and grown immensely, thus being dubbed Rolling Stone's "Best [...]

Way out in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, between Iceland and Scotland, is a cluster of 18 small islands called the Faroe Islands. Thats where Gudrid Hansdóttir was born and raised. Her music is a Lilith Fair-worthy blend of chamber pop and perky folk-rock and the past years she´s been performing in Europe and USA. Gudrid started singing at an early age and shared a high interest in Music. She loved going through her fathers vinyl records and she discovered great artists like Kate Bush, Dolly Parton, Jethro Tull and Jimi Hendrix. Her father was a highly skilled guitar [...]

Well, it does not seem like there will ever be an end to the vast amount of archived material left behind by Jimi Hendrix, as since his untimely passing in 1970, his estate has released eight studio albums, over 20 live albums, and more compilations and box sets than you can shake a leg at. This is not to criticize the most recent release, Winterland , the live album featuring tracks from four of The Jimi Hendrix Experience's original line up (Hendrix-Redding-Mitchell) performing at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom in 1968. The album has three different release [...]
I made a quick visit to Seattle's Experience Music Project not long ago. The current main exhibit is titled: NIRVANA: Taking Punk To The Masses, and coincides with the 20th birthday of the band's Nevermind record. The exhibit not only has tons of Nirvana memorabilia, but is really a goldmine of great music sources from that same period of time. The facility is right next to Seattle's Space Needle (it's that dented looking brass thing to the right of it), and is full of cool exhibits having to do with music and film. Here's a giant [...]
Quels instruments choisir ? Comment apprendre à devenir le nouveau Jimi Hendrix ? Où jouer pour [...]
