If like us you're finding the whole deciding-the-future-of-the-wor ld aspect of today more than a little stressful, you may be in need of a wee bit of comic relief. If so, look no further than this montage of pretty much every memorable mondegreen in the history of music, which we spotted at Laughing Squid earlier this morning. the video finds a group called cdza creating an aural history of memorable misheard lyrics, from Carl Orff right through to Pink, via Elton John, Bob Dylan and various others. You can click through and watch the video after the [...]

"Psychedelic-Blues music for your soul" is what the Iowa band Radio Moscow wishes to deliver to your eardrums. They've been compared to Cream and The Jimi Hendrix Experience. This music will definitely take you back to the 60's and 70's. Get comfortable and prepare to be molested. Radio Moscow - Misleading Me This band was formed when Parker Griggs began jamming in his basement and got a demo into the hands of Dan Auerbach from The Black Keys. Auerbach went on to produce their first [...]

Rod Stewart is one of those guys who took partying to a whole new level. I'd set him right alongside David Bowie and below Jimi Hendrix, in the unofficial party hall of fame. In his published memory, Rod: The Autobiography , the rocker reveals that he used to take cocaine anally - but all for health - to protect his nose, that is. ...we started buying anti-cold capsules from the chemist's, separating the two halves of the capsules, replacing their contents with a pinch of cocaine, and then taking the capsules anally, where, of course, [...]

Filed under: News , Exclusive , Music Appreciation Autumn de Wilde There are three great mysterious deaths from the alternative era. 1) The suicide of Kurt Cobain , where he apparently shot himself in the head with a shotgun. Books and documentaries have been made about the Nirvana lead singer's death and there are many who believe his passing was no accident. 2) The drowning death of [...]
All I can say on this one is WOW! And I know that WOW is over used, but trust me when I tell you that is what this video evokes.
(courtesy of The Record Collector's Journal ) Coincidentally, at the same time those amazing unpublished Rolling Stones pics turned up, I found 3 incredible shots of Hendrix (and one of opener Buddy Miles Express) that I am quite certain are also unpublished! These are original prints that the photographer rather crudely affixed to a copy of Axis: Bold As Love, and it looks as though the album cover with photos was hanging on his/ her wall for many years, as there are pin holes [...]
This is my second of four Friday Word of the week posts focused on the root word "dream". I like the songs in this post a lot...a little spacey, a little moody, and a great duo. Who could ask for more? As always let me know what you think. Daydream - Robin Trower Rainy Day, Dream Away - Jimi Hendrix Experience Your Wildest Dreams - Moody Blues [...]

Death Cab for Cutie photo by Dave Lichterman Wondering where a certain record might land in KEXP’s countdown of the top albums of the last 40 years ? You’re not the only one. KEXP reached out to some of our favorite Seattle music writers and asked them to predict what records they anticipated seeing in the voter final results. These aren’t personal Top Ten or Best Of lists, but “educated guesses” based on each individual’s expertise in a certain genre as well as his or her familiarity with the musical universe of KEXP. Listen as the Bobs prove that with songs this good, you don't need instruments.

Ready for Carmageddon II? The weekend closure of the 405 is only about seven hours away, and the local lounge-pop outfit Vermouth is taking our transportational paralysis with a sense of humor, and a twist. They've recorded a cover of Jimi Hendrix's "Crosstown Traffic" — with kazoos. Consider this your Friday martini lunch. ||| Download: "Crosstown Traffic"

We were always big fans of now-defunct UK music weekly Melody Maker — it was always rather less self-important and more lighthearted than the NME — so we were chuffed to see that the Morrison Hotel Gallery in NYC is hosting a retrospective of work by one of the publication's staff photographers, Barrie Wentzell. Wentzell shot for the magazine in the 1960s and 1970s, and the exhibition covers the years 1965-75, including portraits of Leonard Cohen, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, and various other luminaries of the era. The exhibition opens tonight and runs until October 21 [...]
Image Source: Molakoe.co.uk Guitars are beautiful objects – just look at the mahogany Gibson Les Paul above! While the majority of non-musically talented folk can appreciate the aesthetics of a decent axe, the emotional bond goes much deeper for those who have spent their youth with – and written tops hits using – a beloved axe. Imagine the devastation then, when opportunist thieves decide to run off guitars belonging to famous musicians. Guitars are prone to theft since bandits know their desirability makes them very easy to sell on, guaranteeing a quick buck or [...]

Pavement - "Summer Babe (Winter Version)" Slanted and Enchanted , 1992 Pavement were never dressed for success. On Slanted and Enchanted , they sounded like they haven’t done laundry in years. Even now it’s hard to tell whether ”Summer Babe (Winter Version)” is a ne’er-do-well savant stroke of genius or a calculated masterpiece disguised in ripped acid-washed jeans. But it’s proof that three [...]

Photo 0 The scene is a bit surreal. The theater is empty. Vendors languishing in slow motion, taking down tarps and laying out t-shirts, preparing for the onslaught. I've got my photo pass and am sitting alone in a side hallway. Ushers ignore me. It's the perfect time to write. I pull out my iphone and hit play. The music is already queued up. It should be. I've been listening to the album for days now. On repeat. [...]
The opening track of the Spider Bags’ newest album, “Keys to the City,” powers and rollicks with an effervescent, childlike punk quality; it’s a Detroit garage band channeling a Saturday morning cartoon of years past. 2012’s Shake My Head is equal parts The Clash, The Specials, and Ted Leo and the Pharmacists minus the ska influence and any British accents. Instead, like their American counterpart, the aforementioned Ted Leo, Spider Bags hail from New Jersey (via North Carolina.) This, their third LP, is a collection of self effacing stories of love, relationships, and the hard scrabble [...]
This Labor Day, I decided to give the list over to a close friend that knows exactly what you need to hear to get through a rough day at work. He should know, he's a bartender. So, I had this whole list planned for Labor Day songs. You know the list; songs [...]

Jimi Hendrix: Come On (Let the Good Times Roll) [ purchase ] Most popular songs are built on the same formula: the I, IV, V structure. This, of course refers to the commonly used chord progression of most popular music (as in A=I, D=IV and E=V – counting up the scale from the [...]
