Presently the brains behind Freerange Records and Delusions of Grandeur, Jamie Odell aka Jimpster has been in the game for the past 20 years. On his sixth studio album Porchlight and Rockingchairs , he plies a warm and genuine sort of deep house that is so often absent from current electronic music. As with a majority of Odell’s output, the arrangement and production levels are faultless, effortlessly smooth to the point of perfection. But [...]

★★★☆☆ Recorded when the morning after has come too soon, Jimpster’s easygoing deep house and soul solutions make enquiries as to the lounge’s opening hours. When engaging space-sprinkled themes, Jamie Odell regularly checks his distance away from the bar and when to engage in the dancefloor’s throng, battling to energise and refresh you. "Hold My Hand" is for when the techno-schooled nightowl wants to come out and play, mildly more persuasive in telling you to convert your casual head-nod into something more pro-active; while "High Wire" is a soul clap gesturing to go with [...]

House music has clearly undergone many, many transformations to reach the state that it's in now. It has been splintered in countless subgenres, progressive house used to sound more like techno, deep house used to have a mandatory soulful component and straight-up house had nothing to do with Swedes or the Mafia. So to begin your career in 1996 and release almost exclusively on your own label for the better part of 17 years and still not only maintain relevance but remain a tastemaker is tribute to Jamie Odell, better known as Jimpster . Even more impressive [...]

Shit alright I've got 18 months worth of stuff that needs posting so I'd better start getting through some of it for you chumpies. There's no freshness in this lot, but this is after all a Blogger page and freshness has no place on Blogger. Let's begin the Bloody Beetroots Greatest Hits Top 1000 Countdown shall we? That guy Jimpster . He is definitely no joke. Remember that time he had that label, Delusions of Grandeur? That was cool. How about Freerange? Decent. Who here remembers the time he made cheekily made music as Franc Spangler [...]

Jimpster feat. Jinadu - These Times out now on Freerange. Listen on Soundcloud or buy it from Beatport .

[ Freerange Records ] There's no doubt that Freerange Records produces top-shelf music. Birthed in '96, the label has shifted very slowly from broken-beat, jazz-infused creations to the straightforward, dance floor-aimed house of the past five years or so. Dip in at any of these points and you'll find not just one good egg (geddit?), but several omelets' worth. Despite this undeniable consistency, I've sometimes found myself wishing the imprint would throw in a [...]

Sometimes winter leaves me feeling a little 'empty' inside. It just snowed a lot in my city so I needed this nice visual of tropical weather to get me out of my funk. Can't wait for Coachella :) Hit play to start a playlist of all the chill electronic music featured on Sunday Night Chill. Three descriptors for each track + genre for easier selective listening. Jimpster 's re-issued remix of Josh Wink is some Planet Kyle tunage, my friends. The rework came about about a year ago on Ovum Recordings and was re-released today as part of Kevin Saunderson's In The House compilation. Thanks to Defected for bringing this one back to light. Here it is, the third and final installment (we know about) of Tornado Wallace on Delusions of Grandeur. I'm glad, although not surprised, that he hasn't stuck to the discoesque sounds we heard on his latest release with Instruments of Rapture. Big tracks from a man with a big big future. The Idjut remix will give the driving techno heads a fix too.

On the seventeenth of October, Freerange released an absolute bomb of a record titled 'Change in You'. Who else could bring such elegance & heat to a record other then our friend Jimpster . With just two originals this record keeps it simple, but trust me when I say that two originals is all you need from this record. You can preview the track 'Change in You' just below, but beware this track has some serious groove. As always, if you like what you hear don't be afraid to show your support .

[Freerange Records] Since his 2006 album, Amour , Jimpster seems to have been moving into ever-more glossy territory, for better or for worse. Tracks like "Sleeper" and "Dangly Panther" showed a new coat of shine beginning to emerge, culminating with last year's "Alsace & Lorraine." But even that track still saw the London producer and Freerange head throwing in deep, massaging bass lines below the pumping chords. His first release of [...]

Just came across this beautiful track via the wonderful Facebook, which apparently just got hacked by some girl called Nicole Santos? Anyway, here is a brand new tune from Mic Newman who was recently in town. This one is coming out on Jimpsters Freerange Records which I'm sure you would know, we are very fond of. Drops on May 16th on Beatport . Mic Newman - The Fidelity [Freerange] (96KBPS) by Freerange Records
