Brooklyn’s quiet achievers YEASAYER have just put out a rendition of the latest Crystal Fighters single “You & I” with their psychedelic touch creating a remix almost unrecognisable. The bustling rhythms and optimistic vibes of the original tune evolve into slow choppy beats and the sing-a-long chorus is replaced by abstract dark vocals. In come swirling loops, hip-hop drums and tons of electronics. Underneath this all lies twinkling synth and a pulsing bass line enriched with the signature Yeasayer hazy sound. It’s not often that the [...]

Greetings from Kentucky, y'all! I bring to you one of my most anticipated albums of this year with Jinja Safari's debut, self-titled, album. Unless you count Locked By Land as a proper album, then this is their sophomore effort. The band continues with their worldly sound in bringing joyous music to our ears. This is a flawless album, with every track bringing something new to the table, giving an overall grandeur to their sound. Every little detail in Jinja Safari's songs are perfectly placed within the wide scheme of their music, whether it be the tribal rhythms or [...]

With two EPs to their name (2010’s self-titled and 2011’s Mermaids & Other Sirens ) and an infamous live show that landed them two nominations for Best Live Act at FBi ’s SMAC Awards, Island Records newest signing JINJA SAFARI have delivered a their debut record which is out now! JINJA SAFARI , the debut album, is 12 postcards from a fantastical pop world – a multiculturally inspired sound, spearheaded by effervescent frontman Marcus Azon and collaborator / producer Pepa Knight. “Because [...]

Glass Towers shed the afro-pop on new single "Halcyon." While " Jumanji " channeled the summer stylings of Vampire Weekend and Jinja Safari, the Sydney outfit's latest single is all about driving instrumentals and explosive choruses. There are plenty of moments when the vocals and guitars are once again reminiscent of Two Door Cinema Club, but nobody ever said that's a bad thing. With "Halcyon," Glass Towers are quickly proving they've got the chops to write big indie rock anthems worthy of larger stages. Stream it below. Stay tuned for a release of Glass Towers' [...]
I've been a fan of Jinja Safari for over a year now (although they have not really broken through in America like I expected). However, as they march towards releasing their debut album later this month, I've been disappointed by their newly released material and I'm holding out hope that the rest of the album will be more akin to Mermaids or Head In A Blender and less like Oh! Benzo . Fortunately, some of their countrymen (and friends of the site), Anton Franc have [...]
Two Door Cinema Club. Vampire Weekend. Jinja Safari. You're a fan, right? Then Glass Towers should be your cup of tea. Their latest single, "Jumanji," is a tropical, guitar-laden number that bears the mark of the aforementioned artists. The track actually came out in their native Australia last year, but will be included in the re-release of their debut Collarbone Jungle EP , which should hopefully give the band a proper introduction to the rest of the world. Stream it below, and keep an eye out for their debut LP this September. [...]

Tropical jams and globetrotter like stunts on bmx bikes balance out the new clip from Australia's Jinja Safari . The track, "Plagiarist", will feature on their long awaited debut LP out May 17.

Sydney’s Jinja Safari was our favorite band by far at last year’s CMJ, prompting multiple viewings and much dancing. Now, we get to fall right back in love with thier newly-released track “Plagiarist”. The serene jungle-pop take will have you dreaming of lounge chairs and waterfalls as your stomach starts filling up with pina coladas. Once this guitar line drops, have your bikini ready. Taken from their upcoming self-titled debut record out May 17th.

The yacht industry would do well to hire Jinja Safari . A mere thirty seconds into the Sydney outfit's latest offering, "Plagiarist," and I find myself combatting the insatiable urge to hop on a catamaran. Once the track's afro-pop lead guitar hook lodges itself in your brain, its hard to imagine any better way to listen than with salt water and wind blowing through your hair. Though seated at a desk will have to do for now. Stream "Plagiarist" below. "Plagiarist" will appear on Jinja Safari's self-titled LP, out May 17th in Australia/New Zealand. [...]

Welcome to our annual countdown of the 50 best songs of the calendar year . Songs must be from an EP, LP or demo released during 2012 and no band may appear twice. Today, we count down 20 to 11. 20. Jinja Safari - "Hiccups" It was post-Vampire Weekend pop, but it didn't make it any less fun, or any more awkward when the band balked at questions about Graceland . When you're the seventh layer in the seven-layer derivative [...]
