CD/DVD combo pack documents an American treasure: Florida swamp-rock-boogie-blues at its finest. Jacksonville's JJ Grey has been delivering his brand of funky, countrified blues-rock to true-believing audiences ever since his debut album Blackwater was unleashed in 2007. Grey's voice is soulful, scratchy and impassioned, as capable of crooning a tender ballad as unleashing a fiery torrent worthy of a hard rock band in its prime. With a string of memorable albums already under his belt that includes 2008's Orange Blossoms and 2010's Georgia Warhorse, Grey and his...

When DeLuna Fest premiered in 2010, no one could have foreseen that it'd be during a period when the Gulf Coast region was ravaged by one of the biggest eco-disasters in recent history. Despite premiering a festival against those adverse conditions, the Pensacola Beach, FL-based festival proved a success with a lineup featuring Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, and Ed Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeroes. For its sophomore year, DeLuna Fest now prides itself as a "resort destination festival" and boasts an initial lineup made up of musical heavy weights and up-and-comers. Set [...]

So, I've decided to do this facebook 30 Day Song Challenge ( you can see previous days here ) thing and I figured I'd do it here on ninebullets. Feel free to contribute your thoughts in the comments section. DAY 24: A SONG THAT YOU WANT PLAYED AT YOUR FUNERAL: Well. First off, I don't really want a funeral. Just burn me and get rid of the ashes. I'll be dead so I don't much care what you do with the ashes either. I guess I'm just not the sentimental [...]
![[Beale Street Music Festival 2011] A Preview / My Recommendations](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3399686_lg.jpg)
The annual Memphis in May Festival has grown considerably over the last 35 years, and no portion of it moreso than the Beale Street Music Festival . One of the longest-running music festivals in the U.S., Beale Street Music Festival had it's humble beginnings right down on Beale Street in 1976 & has grown consistently every year since. Boasting a lineup which has been described by nearly everyone I've talked to as "The best variety of performers Beale Street Music Festival has ever had", the 35th annual festival lands at [...]
The Hangout Music Festival has added twelve more acts to its May 20-22, 2011 lineup. The newest artist additions include The Avett Brothers, STS9, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Brandi Carlile, JJ Grey and Mofro, Karl Denson's Tiny Universe, Big Gigantic, Soja, Railroad Earth, Greensky Bluegrass, Rival Sons and Honey Island Swamp Band. Last month [...]

Sometimes even the musically rich really get richer, too. The lineup for the second edition of the Hangout Music Festival was already stellar to begin with, but festival organizers have just dropped another bomb that makes the decision whether or not to attend what is essentially the coolest beach block party on Earth a no-brainer. Twelve acts have been added to the already stacked bill , which includes: The Avett Brothers, STS9, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Brandi Carlile, and down South favorites, JJ Grey and Mofro. Also joining a lineup that already sports [...]
As previously reported, jam icons String Cheese Incident will take over the stomping grounds of the still-in-doubt Rothbury Music Festival for their own four-day extravaganza this Fourth of July weekend. Set to run June 30-July 3rd at the Double JJ Resort in Rothbury, Michigan, the Electric Forest 's inaugural bill already includes 51 acts, with even more still to be confirmed. Along with three sets by SCI, the festival will offer such musical heavyweights as DJ Tiësto, Pretty Lights, REO Speedwagon, Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic, Stephen Marley, Kaskade, Shpongle, and Railroad Earth. [...]
Like every other festival in 2011, the All Good Music Festival is celebrating an anniversary. This year marks the jam fest's 15th year, and to celebrate, three of the genre's biggest names have been tapped to headline the festivities. Furthur, moe., and Umphrey's McGee will head this year's edition of All Good, set to take place July 14-17 at Marvin's Mountaintop in Masontown, West Virginia. Other confirmed heavyweights include Primus, Pretty Lights, John Butler Trio, Yonder Mountain String Band, and Keller Williams. Galactic, Toots & the Maytals, JJ Grey and Mofro, The Infamous Stringdusters, Papadosio, Toubab [...]

We're barely a week into 2011 and we've already got our first major summer festival line up announcement of the season that has us excited for the warmer months ahead. Earlier today the fine folks behind the Wakarusa Music Festival dropped a monster list of bands that will take to the variety of tents and stages over the weekend of June 2 -5 at Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Arkansas. Now in it's seventh year, the jam-friendly festival will be headlined by the mighty My [...]

When I was about 17 or so, I used to think New Year's Eve was when all the females in the world lost their minds and handed out kisses at midnight in one special five minute period that didn't exist the rest of the year. It was Sadie Hawkins Day baby! Little did I know the mythical Sadie Hawkins was a cartoon character from the Li'l Abner comic strip. A cartoonist named Al Capp (shouldn't he have written Andy Capp? Oh, that was Jerry Bittle? Fiddlesticks...) conjured up a 35 year old spinster (Spinster - an old maid, an older [...]

The song selection here is from the 2010 release Georgia [...]
