It's time for another edition of Commercial Watch , where I again highlight some of the hippest, indiest songs that are out there soundtracking commercials for cars, mobile phones, chewing gums and national football leagues. Since I know all of you are the Hulu / DVR / next-day-on-youtube type, here’s a few of the best tunes that the modern day Don Drapers and Peggy Olsons have been digging up. The commercials are embedded below with MP3s included. Make sure to click the continue reading link to double the pleasure, double the fun, and uh... see the full post. [...]

( Sad Songs & Waltzes is a recurring feature on Muzzle of Bees, where artists share their favorite sad songs. Previous contributors include Megafaun , Delta Spirit , Damien Jurado , Conrad Plymouth , Frontier Ruckus , Ben Weaver , and Roadside Graves .) Timothy Showalter of Strand of Oaks is the perfect contributor for this feature. If you've spent time with his albums, you develop an instant appreciation of his ability to craft a song. Sad songs? He's got those too. In fact, [...]
Jónsi received the inaugural Nordic Music Prize yesterday for his 2010 release "Go". It was his debut solo album, the other 11 nominees included Robyn's "Body Talk", First Aid Kit's "The Big Black & the Blue", Efterklang's "Magic Chairs" and the Radio Dept.'s "Clinging To A...

Things are starting to get pretty busy right now. Classes are starting to move pretty quickly. Work is exciting and changing every day. I'm making new goals for thatsmyish.com and some other projects that are to come. After playlists get fined tuned and rocking, I'll be moving to work on an android app (free of course) and hopefully and iPhone app aswell! Keep your fingers crossed and we'll see how things look in the future! In the mean time, a couple songs that have helped keep my spirits up. [...]

Last week, I was catching up with Rachel, a dear friend of the blog, and she asked me what had been in my headphones recently. After a few false starts in writing a list of stuff to her, I thought to myself, ‘Wait, you’ve been absolute crap with your posting consistency at CotP. Why don’t you re-evaluate your neglect and write this for the blog?’ So without further adieu, the next two posts are what I’ve been listening to of late. Hope you don’t mind that I posted them here.

When I made my year end list I knew I was forgetting some things and Jonsi's album Go was one of them. The video for "Go Do" is from the concert film and live album, Jonsi Live At The Wiltern , available here. http://jonsi.com/
The 2011 Ford Explorer has many commercials in their "Go. Do" campaign. This one stands out from the crowd for me with the effective use of Jónsi's first single, Go Do, from his solo album, Go. Jónsi, with his unmistakable vocals that are synonymous with Sigur Rós, took some time to go out on his [...]

There are more mediocre concert films out there than one cares to guess and often when a band risks financial investment to document their live presence, the results are often less than spectacular. Jónsi's concept for his live offering is a rare exception as not only is it a captivating piece of film making, but the live CD actually outdoes the highly acclaimed studio album. The opening scenes from the accompanied live DVD begins with a fuzzed out series of frantic flashes followed by fluttering butterflies flying over darkness perhaps signalling the metamorphosis that has taken place to put Jónsi's debut solo [...]
by teepoo Chrysler and this Volkswagen commercial are the same song J Ralph- One Million Miles Away | MYSPACE DAYQUIL + NIGHTQUIL I'm pretty sure that is Billy Boy on Poison- When it Rains it Pours. Here's a vid of it: 2011 Ford Explorer Jónsi- Go Do | MYSPACE

The Fairy Girl used to be my brother’s girlfriend. She has no name. She used to show everyone her tits when no one was paying attention to her. She would lift her batik shirt over her glitter eyes and her nose ring with her long fingers that had a ring on each one. She would sit on anyone’s lap. She looked at her own bare feet a lot and would, from time to time, comment on how much she loved them. The Fairy Girl talked about her therapist in any given conversation. Her therapist, she said, thought she [...]

The past twelve months for Sigur Rós head honcho Jónsi have been spectacular to witness from outside of the whirlwind upon which the unfathomably gifted multi-instrumentalist has sped around more continents than he's ever performed instores. From within it must have been all but ephemeral. Flicking through the elaborate pages of the accompanying hardback to Go Live, the most comprehensive live LP ever to have been chronicled over a mere double disc package, photos of awkward interviews and chihuahuas in handbags, half pints in Osaka and perpetual highways attest to the trail of serotonin bound to have emanated [...]

Inspired by the Mercury Music Prize, the people behind Norway’s by:Larm Festival have set up the first-ever Nordic Music Prize , in order to highlight the wealth of new Scandinavian talent. Jónsi , Dungen , First Aid Kit, Efterklang , Robyn , the Radio Dept. and Ólöf Arnalds are all up for the award, which will be announced on February 19 as part of this year's by:Larm Festival (taking place in Oslo, 17-19 February).

Catch the man from Ambler, Pennsylvania's latest freestyle (his 50th in a row!) For this major milestone, E-Dubble definitely didn't skimp out on the great (maybe greatest) sample, taking from Jónsi, the Icelandic wonder's song, Boy Lillikoi, which is one of my favorite songs off of his latest album, Go (check it out at #4 in my Albums of the Year !) Although Evan doesn't really kill the outro-self admitted-as per his usual standards, his lyrics are off the wall. I can actually say that this song belongs up there at the top of the melancholic raps [...]

For those of you who have not read this yet! YOU SHOULD! Cause I am the Poochifer! This is a first for me! I've never had the chance to write and publish a list of my favorite albums of the year. Recently, I've seen a lot of lists that go in descending order, which in my opinion is just a waste of time because i'll scroll to the bottom to see number 1 and then work back to the top, going down in order, so for this post, I'm going to start at #1 and work all the [...]
Offered is the new visuals for Icelandic singer, Jónsi’s “Sticks And Stones”. The song is taken from DreamWork’s animated summer-blockbuster movie “How To Train Your Dragon” soundtrack. The music video contains segments taken from the movie.
