Sunset in the Rearview’s Top 20 Albums of 2010 Everybody else was doing it; why shouldn’t I? That’s typically not something I condone in life, because it’s bad to give in to social trends and peer pressure. Right? Right. Well, this time, I’m breaking my own rules to bring to you Sunset in the Rearview’s Top 20 Albums of 2010 . By this I mean my personal favorite albums of the year. I listened to several, and there are many that I enjoyed that didn’t make this list. But [...]

Best songs of the year is typically the most difficult list to make but also the most rewarding. There's nothing more indicative of a year in music then it's greatest songs, and evident from the tracks listed below, I'd venture to say 2010 was a pretty great year. To add some perspective and keep my head from exploding due to too much writing (it could happen), I asked Matt to help with the list this year. We combined our favorite songs list (carefully removing any artist overlaps) and came up with a definitive 50 best songs of 2010 [...]

8. Yeasayer - Odd Blood Intoxicating rhythms and limitless energies, this is the most danceable and bum shakin' release of the year. Less a mere album and more a compilation of feel good treats, Odd Blood delivered two of the best singles of the year: "Ambling Alp" and "O.N.E." ( home / myspace / facebook / twitter / tour ) 7. Broken Bells - [...]
Second part of the list, with my 20 best tracks of 2010. These are tracks that I can’t recommend you listen to them enough. I also tried to write a couple of words about the tracks. Just random information, how they make me feel and why I put them on the list. Enjoy! 20. COOLRUNNINGS - I Am You ( Star Slinger Remix) // stream The original track by COOLRUNNINGS is already pretty amazing, but this remix by Star Slinger just [...]

You certainly shouldn’t bet on Jónsi showing up at the Academy Awards in his epic headdress for a performance of the Sigur Rós frontman’s How To Train Your Dragon theme song, “Sticks and Stones,” as my favorite Oscar shortlisters rarely make it to the nomination round, but I will be crossing my fingers that he or one of the other select few interesting contenders will beat out the likes of Justin Bieber, Avril Lavigne, or Owl City for a nod. Anyway, what I’m trying to say is that the Oscar’s [...]

Sure, lots of really exciting things happened this week. Our staff's never been busier. The list below is merely a fraction of every newsworthy event in music. Seriously, though, the only thing that really mattered this week was the beginning of our Year-End Report 2010 . Chances are you've probably had your fill of various best-of lists-and if you haven't, you will very soon. Give ours a chance anyway. You can find the first part by clicking here . Keep an eye out for additional posts next week as well. And be sure to [...]

This is a first for me! I've never had the chance to write and publish a list of my favorite albums of the year. Recently, I've seen a lot of lists that go in descending order, which in my opinion is just a waste of time because i'll scroll to the bottom to see number 1 and then work back to the top, going down in order, so for this post, I'm going to start at #1 and work all the way down to #20, while posting a song from the top 3 and then while moving down, posting a [...]

30. The Courteeners 'Falcon' - What went down I don't know, but there's way more to these than first signalled. Superb. 29. Jónsi 'Go' - Sigur Rós' leading light turns out a stripped-down (for Sigur) endeavour. And it's all just as empowering. 28. The Drums 'The Drums' - The year's most-hyped sign over the goods. Who said guitar pop [...]

Here is my attempt to distill a years worth of music down to a reasonable list. I was planning to do a top 10 but 25 was the smallest I could whittle it down to. Amiina - Puzzle Arms & Sleepers - Matador Remixed Baths - Cerulean Beach House - Teen Dream Blackbird Blackbird - Summer Heart Caribou - Swim Cherry Ghost - Beneath this burning shoreline Danger Mouse and Sparklehorse - Dark Night of the Soul Efterklang - Magic [...]
To think that we're condensing an entire year of our favorite albums in one post, what a novel idea. It took a lot of time for us to go through all the albums we listened to this year, but I'm freaking happy with what we came up with. There's no magic formula here. The following 20 albums are ones that kept playing and playing. They're our favorites, but might not be yours, so leave your favorite album of the year in the comments or on our Facebook page . -------------------------- [...]
A entire year's worth of songs all boils down to this article. Did Sufjan's 25 minute epic, "Impossible Soul", take the number one spot, or was it Cee Lo Green, Yeasayer , Joanna Newsom, or Gorillaz? Here are our 50 favorite songs of 2010, in order, so check them out and let us know what you think. Did we nail it? Did we royally screw the pooch? ------------------------------ - 50. "Farewell My Love" - Savoir Adore - Listen 49. "I Heart New York" [...]

Any Sigur Ros fan knows that anything Jonsi is associated with ends in perfection. This can be proved by reading any of the many reviews of his debut album 'Go' or watching his live performances. It's almost a fact that his consistency will strive to continue on in his next release, 'Go Live', which is a new live album and DVD. With this release date approaching, he's released "New Piano Song" for free if you 'like' it on Facebook . " New Piano Song " (which is a horrible song name) is another [...]
Jónsi 's solo studio release Go felt flat and chilling to me, something equated to the funeral chants of an underachieving choir boy. Moogfest 2010 came and went, and when we found out Jónsi was on the bill, my initial reaction was mixed. But curiosity won out in the end and brought me to witness this so-called prodigious son of Icelandic's surrealist soft rock act, Sigur Ros. I can tell you firsthand, the performance nearly brought me to tears, and discovering the very same set would be translated to a live album? Let me [...]

I've loved the Icelandic group Sigur Ros for quite some time now, but was skeptical just how good frontman Jonsi's proper solo debut, Go would be. I couldn't have been more wrong. Go is a skitteringly gorgeous album that wraps you up in melodies that could only come from Jonsi and his angelic vocal cords. So so good and (in my case) unexpected. MP3: Jonsi - Go Do

Icelandic singer Jónsi debuts his new tune “New Piano Song”, which is taken from his upcoming film/live album Go Live . Grab the track from the Sigur Rós-frontman below. Jónsi can never dissapoint. Click here to download MP3.
I've always been a HUGE fan of Sigur Ros, so it's should be no surprise when I say that I'm also a huge fan of Jónsi and how pleased I was when I found out that he was going to release a film / live album package entitled Go Live, capturing on tape the experience [...]
