Jonsi - Tornado I'm imagining a man at a bar sitting side-by-side with a perfectly still tornado. Just wisps of white wind and debris in spirals circling their way to the ceiling. Unfashionably dressed, with his plain blue collared shirt tucked - front, back, and waist - into his jeans. He's leaned over the bar, can cupped in his focused hands, and singing. Quietly, to begin with. His throat is extended, his Adam's apple exposed with a jagged triangle bursting from the skin covered [...]

This guy is putting out some beautiful music.... After breaking away from Sigur Ros, his solo career has gotten off to a great start. We have already posted "Go Do" and "Boy Likiloi" but here is another one I stumbled upon that is probably my favorite. Jónsi - Kolniður Bonus: Directed by Sean Stiegemeier, this video captures the beauty of the Icelandic volcano eruption and is heightened by Kolniður. Also: Jónsi - Time To Pretend (MGMT Cover)

When this man opens his mouth, the angels speak. It's as simple as that. The fact that Jónsi can conjure his ethereal vocal timbre on command is a testament to the capabilities of the human voice. Especially in this age of AutoTune and lip-syncing, such a feat is even more remarkable. Entering the indie mainstream with " Boy Lilikoi " (see 1:01) this past winter, Jónsi has hit the festival and gigging circuits of late, playing all over the US and Europe. The Iceland native peddles his own take on dream pop, which has proven to be far more accessible [...]
A new compilation featuring exclusively Icelandic artists has been compiled by the Icelandic Music Export, to show the wide range of musical styles from the small island nation. All of the artists that were selected for inclusion on the compilation all released albums... Click the link to read more

You may or may not recognize Jónsi's vocals right off the bat. He's the frontman for Sigur Ros. Although Sigur Ros's music is unmistakable and unique, he creates a sound all his own. His first dip in the solo pool, titled 'Go,' is astounding. mp3: Jonsi - Go Do mp3: Jonsi - Animal Arithmetic mp3: Jonsi - Kolnidur
Jónsi makes his late night debut here in the United States with his solo band as they play 'Go Do' from his debut album "Go". Just like the album version of the song his performance on late night television is just as awesome. Jónsi on Craig... Click the link to read more
You thought Monday was busy ? Try Tuesday. During last night's three hour span of late night television, the following things happened: MGMT brought "Brian Eno" to Letterman (they also delivered a full concert right after), Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi Birgisson capped off his recently completed North American tour by performing "Go Do" on Ferguson, and The Rolling Stones' Mick Jagger, appearing in the midst of J-Fal's Rolling Stones week, gave his best Lost impersonation on the latest episode of Late . Plus, albeit not falling under [...]
If you haven't heard by now, there's a crazy volcano in iceland going nuts..sorta. Also coming out of iceland is the solo debut of Jonsi , singer of this amamazing band called Sigur Ros. Unsurprisingly it sounds a lot like Sigur Ros but steps poppier. He's got about ten million dates on tour right now so don't snooze on it. His cover of MGMT's Time to Pretend is awesome as well. All beautiful stuff and you can not only understand it but it's mostly in english, I think. Get his album 'GO' right [...]

Boy Lilikoi - Jonsi Go Do - Jonsi

I've had plenty of time to consume this new solo effort from Jonsi, the lead singer of Sigur Ros, so I should be able to write a review that's much less bias and full of hyperbole than if I had written it a month ago when I first listened to it. But before I begin, I'm going to start my reviews from now on with mp3 link first, then the review. That way, you can listen to my favorite song off the album while you're reading the review. It makes total sense and I don't know why I didn't do [...]

Have you ever been the last in your social circle to see a movie? Everyone tells you that you'll love it, and what are you waiting for? Live shows can be like that, but your excuse is that the artist hasn't come to your city yet. Adding fuel to the anticipatory fire are comments in fan forums, like, "If you were there, no explanation is necessary. If you weren't there, no explanation is satisfactory." Indeed, Boston's anticipation had been building for a long time when lead vocalist of Sigur Rós, Jón Þór Birgisson, or simply [...]

In the days before this concert I'd read reviews describing Sigur Rós frontman Jónsi 's live show as a magical, awe-inspiring, tear-inducing experience that would ruin any future concerts for me. I'd seen video of Jónsi performing songs live and some behind-the-scenes shots of the stage. None of this prepared me for the truly amazing concert that I experienced though. Because the vast scope and engrossing nature of this concert, it took me a while to collect my thoughts on this concert (which might explain my delay in reviewing this show). Jónsi's show at The Vic [...]
Jónsi recently sat down with Under the Radar and wasw interviewed about his solo shows and how they have affected his playing. During the interview he said that Sigur Rós are going to be back in the studio and may release an album in 2011. This is what the exhanged was... Click the link to read more

![[Albums Review] Jónsi: Go](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2525882_lg.jpg)
The debut solo album from Sigur Rós mastermind Jónsi Þór Birgisson is a splendid illustration of the sensual, profound, and sparkling middle-ground between ethereal tendencies and classical intonations. With the assistance of his partner, Alex Somers, and Peter Katis on co-production duties, and the string arrangements from Nico Muhly, Go lives up to the loftiest of expectations, and then some. The album opens with "Go Do," a flitting, echoing song filled with Jónsi's smooth, falsetto fanciness. It's difficult to determine whether he is singing in Icelandic or English, or a little [...]
