LOST: The Final Season is finally here and to pay tribute to my all-time favorite show I've made what I consider to be the definitive mix of music featured on LOST. You can download the entire mix in a zip here , and read how each song is used in the show (plus which episode it appeared first) below. Feel free to use this to soundtrack your LOST premiere party tonight. I'll most likely be posting some thoughts on here as the season progresses. See you in another life, brutha. There remain less than 48 hours until the season six premiere of LOST . This evening my little crew reached the end of our series re-watch. That is, we've spent the last three months working our way back through the entire show from the first episode until the season five finale. Two people, Sebastian and Quiggs, had never seen any of the show before. Now they are in the exact same spot as us. I've had three months to closely inspect the series, and feel comfortable answering the same ten questions posed in this most recent issue of [...]
by inky jojo It was an average night in the valley. I had spent the previous evening in downtown Burbank, if my memory serves me right, at a pool hall getting completely wasted and arguing with the bartender over my tab at the end of the night. I believe it was over the price of the Washington Apple shots, of which I personally must have consumed around seven and evidently had purchased, in all the enthusiasm, another fifteen or so. Now in Sherman Oaks with one of my [...]

[Here's where it starts to get busy, folks ...] For my money, there is no better punk-rock outfit doing business the past few years than Florida's Against Me! , who remain the only band to have slayed me at both Coachella and the Warped Tour. The quintet just finished a new album, "White Crosses," with producer Butch Vig, and their gig at a venue as cozy at Spaceland (they're at the Troubadour on Saturday) promises to be special. L.A.'s aptly named Roll the Tanks open. [...]

Indie label, Vanguard Records , got caught up in the Christmas spirit and decided give to us a free Holiday Sampler. It has tracks from some the best artists that they represent, from Brandi Carlile to Josh Ritter to Dar Williams to Greg Laswell...well you get the point and you can see all their names on the album cover to the left. Not all of the tracks are Holiday themed, but it is still a great mix for the holiday season. Here are few of my early favorites. Dar Williams - It's Alright [...]

Don't get me wrong, I love England but there are many moments when I desperately want to get out of this country. The root of such feelings usually derives from this country's depressing weather climate. Supposedly the month of November saw the most rainfall out of any month since 1914! Which is just lovely. Either way I've conjured up a little mixtape with some old and new songs for those ever-present rainy moments. Just don't forget your umbrella... Jonsi - Boy Lilikoi [...]

As promised, here is the official soundtrack of the 4th season of Grey's Anatomy. Other than Grey's Anatomy, other hit shows like Gossip Girl, Chuck, Fringe, Glee, Dollhouse, One Tree Hill, Ugly Betty, House and many more. You've got to give a hand to the music supervisors of these shows for their success. The music is not perfect, but it's certainly entertaining. The show goes mostly for indie favorites like The National, Ingrid Michaelson, The Gossip, Tegan and Sara, The Bird and the Bee, Bon Iver, Feist, Goldfrapp, Rilo Kiley, Frightened Rabbit, The Republic Tigers, Yeah Yeah Yeahs and more. Poet in search of Muse! - 47 (Galloway) Date: 2009-07-27, 1:01AM EDT Reply To This Post Darkness falls upon a lonely soul Fatigue is conquered by thoughts of sweet love Shadows on the wall dance away silently like remnants of chlorine dreams on a clear bright morning Gather unto me my squires and bathe me in scented oils Dress me in fine linens of scarlet, purple, and gold Tonight I [...]

The Wakarusa Music Festival has had its share of troubles since day one when it started out in Lawrence, Kansas. Harassment by the local police, rent hikes of 800%, and an unrealistic attendance cap that could have been doubled (if the locals realized what was good for their town's economy) all plagued the small fest's organizers. There was even a nearby college that should have meant longevity for this small event, but shady local politics kicked the organizers out. Luckily they managed to find a small private piece of land just south in Ozark, Arkansas. The land is [...]

[Random news items from my inbox ...] Friends are rallying en masse in support of Peter Case , the L.A. icon who underwent emergency open-heart surgery on Jan. 15. A fund, Hidden Love , has been set up to help defray the medical expenses of the former Plimsouls frontman, 55, who had no health insurance and is expected to make a full recovery. And a three-night benefit May 1-3 is planned at McCabe's Guitar Shop in Santa Monica — the $50-per-night shows feature Loudon Wainwright [...]

What is going on around in my fellow bloggers world that is of concern to me (and hence you)? Well, I am glad you asked. Let me drop some links for you for items of note for me (and hence you). ~~~ Captain Obvious has put up a post on Joe Purdy in light of his new album "Last Clock on the Wall" , which is quickly becoming a favourite of mine. Great folk country from quite a prolific artist. My good friend [...]

New Wax Arkansas songwriter Joe Purdy has been putting out albums at a dizzying pace. In six years he's penned ten albums of original material, with six of those seeing daylight in the last two years. While his songs have appeared on a number of hit TV shows such as "Lost," "Grey's Anatomy," and "House, M.D.," Purdy opts to release his music independently rather than deal with record companies who would most likely try to impede his torrid pace. Purdy's latest album Last Clock On The Wall [...]

In this cold and rainy time of the year I would rather stay in bed all day, under a warm and cosy duvet with a cup of tea in my hand, in a room that smells of vanilla scented candles, and listen to some music, than go out in the chilly weather. I made a playlist that is suitable for that exact occasion: Fleet Foxes - Meadowlarks The Coral - Jacqueline [...]
the eight annual (and entirely free) hardly strictly bluegrass festival kicked off this evening with performances by m.c. hammer and allison krauss & robert plant, among others. if you missed it - v. possible considering the employed-unfriendly 5:15p headliner start time - fret not, as there's still rather quite a lot of excellent music to come tomorrow and sunday, including all-time a.g. favorites sam beam, greg brown & will oldham. you can find the full schedule here , at the official h.s.b. website , along with loads of helpful information for spending [...]

Photography by Katherina Apparently it's mixtape week here at Tsururadio.... who knew? Seems the inaugaration of the mixtape forum continues, as auxiliary & honorary society member, Sunshine Claire (read: Tsurubride & I are friends with her in real life & everything, I know, crazy, eh? the real world, a scary place indeed) put together a pretty fucking sweet mixtape of some good times she's been particularly enjoying. Unfortunately, it was only in hard-copy, but have no fear! A little bit o' this, a little bit o' that [...]

Good to see some friends last night at Twist. Special thanks to Eagle Rock Bowling & Drinking Club, All Star Lanes, CGT, and all the bands for putting together such a great night and of course Mary Monolator for the phat snacks. Photos up. F Yeah Fest isn't just a festival. It's an exercise in patience and benevolence. We all know it isn't very organized. We all know we won't probably be able
