Thanks to Loudersoft for wondering the same thing we were after Sunday night's episode of The Sopranos: "What the hell was that song ?" Loudersoft did some digging so we didn't have to and uncovered a title and artist: "Evidently Chickentown," a jokingly-poetic electro-punk track from the lesser known punk pioneer John Cooper Clarke . Check it: [MP3] John Cooper Clarke - Evidently Chickentown Out of context this song may seem a little strange, but for the closing moments of The Sopranos' 79th [...]
So Christopher Moltisanti's film Cleaver finally sees it's premiere, and the famiglia is all there and mostly impressed. But, even then, as Silvio put so succinctly: "Chrissy's the last person I would have confused with Marty ." The film (pitched as Saw meets The Godfather II ,) stars Daniel Baldwin (who looks a lot better since his last picture ) as the chubby crime boss named 'Sally Boy.' It appears that Cleaver is really a revenge [...]

I sat down and tried to create an "appropriate" blog entry for my first guest blog spot on Break Thru Radio this week. I thought if I made an "appropriate" entry that it would fit in better and possibly be better received or liked. But I realize, after beginning this journey, that I've never been one to merely write things that were "appropriate". Timely, perhaps, but never "appropriate". As I sat here stewing about what to write, the credits for The Sopranos episode were rolling [...]

I probably first heard his voice and word play on Peel, that all important first EP on Rabid records, without doubt I had already read about him in the NME, I was lucky enough to have seen him perform on numerous occasions, the first of which being an opening slot at London's famed Marquee Club. I am talking about noneother than the Salford word slayer, John Cooper Clarke for whom I have been a big fan since '77. It was therefore very much to my surprise and pleasure to see an interview with the man known as the [...]
I was reading this month's copy of Mojo the other night on the train back from Manchester (I went to Old Trafford to see Henrik score on his debut and Kiraly obligingly get out of the way of a late Solskjaer effort to see United through to the next round of the FA Cup ) and came across an article where Alex Turner of the Arctic Monkeys interviews legendary Mancunian beat poet John Cooper Clarke. Or, more accurately, they seem really to interview each other as Clarke shows a deft touch in redirecting the [...]
The Lost Turntable is a blog that earlier this year started when the operator decided to mp3 encode the soundtrack for the great flick Urgh! A Music War for us all... A while ago I posted the entire Urgh! soundtrack. I know people sell bootlegs of that soundtrack for insane amounts on eBay and shit, so those MP3s will only go away if I get a cease and desist letter. Go get them if you want them. Also, in case you are wondering, I got that amazingly bizarre scan from this amazingly bizarre site ) Side One (One More Song from Side One) Side Two Side Three Side Four [...]
