Haven't heard an 'upbeat' song like this from John Maus in a few years, this one has a 80s dance party while the Wizard Of Oz takes vocal duties. Upon continuous listens this might be my favorite song of the year thus far. The Peter Hook-bass-line riff coupled with the that fierce distorted synth solo is destructive to my overall day in the way that only Mr. Freeze could explain . John Maus - Quantum Leap

Love is Real by John Maus was an understated gem from 2007, which reflected his love for gloomy lo-fi pop with a distinctly melancholy hue to it. It's taken four years, but Maus finally has a follow-up record ready bearing the excellent title We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves.
