We get lots and lots of emails here at EAR FARM. In fact, you should send us one and suggest a theme for a future music video post. Music videos! Speaking of those, below are a few recent vids that stood out amongst the email submissions with downloadable MP3s to go along with two of them... "Too Much Water" by Prints (above) [ MP3 ] "My Sweet Love" by John Mellencamp (above) "Bonafied Lovin" by Chromeo (above) [...]
Life, Death, Love & Freedom is John Mellencamp's best work to date and is battling with The Felice Brothers for the title of my favorite album of the year so far. The CD and its free companion DVD... **Click on the link to read the full post, download mp3s, and comment.**

I've always been a fan of Mellencamp even though I wasn't down with the My Country Chevy truck Rah-Rah America thing he did. I mean, I love America. I love Chevy trucks. I just didn't like that cliche he wrote for a commercial, I mean, song. That aside, I look forward to the release of his new album Life, Death, Life And Freedom on July 15th. The album was produced by T-Bone Burnett and the first single released to radio is a cool little stomper called "My Sweet [...]

Hoosier Sameer Mishra just captured the 2008 Scripps National Spelling Bee championship by correctly spelling guerdon. (Interesting...the word isn't in Google's spell check dictionary.) Our office has a little tradition around the spelling bee. Each employee is randomly assigned 3 contestants and the one whose contestant finishes wins gets the office trophy. I won the inaugural contest two years ago, then refused to give up my trophy last year. I'm hoping that it's still securely glued to my desk when I return to the office on Monday. In honor of Sameer and all [...]
Indiana's favorite son, John Cougar's career had been gaining momentum slowly for six years by the time he released the album American Fool in June of 1982. Two years earlier, he had issued his best-selling album to date, Nothin' Matters And What If It Did , which had produced two Top 40 hits including the #17 hit Ain't Even Done With The Night . It gave no indication, though, of the monster success that awaited Cougar. It was hardly surprising when rock radio embraced Hurts So Good , American Fool 's first [...]

A small but select group of big names in the music world will be inducted into The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this Monday. I've got a Single Song Sunday feature on oft-covered fellow inductee Leonard Cohen scheduled for Sunday, and I couldn't find any folk covers of the theme to Hawaii 5-0, but to whet your appetite a bit, here's a few choice covers of three other artists who will be strutting their way across the stage to get their due. [...]
There's still time for an impeachment, you know. The Bell - Stephan Smith, Pete Seeger, Mary Harris and Dean Ween The Price of Oil - Billy Bragg To Washington - John Mellencamp

I first mentioned Ag-Rock in this post about Adrienne Young. If you are too lazy to click the link and scan the post for my definition, here is what I said: "Adrienne Young plays ag-rock. That is short for agriculture… Ag-rock is a meshing of Celtic, Appalachian, Bluegrass, Country, Rock and Folk. Earthy lyrics. Young's voice reminds me of Barbara Cohen, another purveyor of Ag-rock. Maybe I should do a post of Ag-rock tunes." And here is that post. Here are some songs that capture the feel, sound, emotion, instrumentation, etc. of this genre. [...]

I think the autoharp is one of the most underused instruments in music today. Luckily, some folks agree with me. Here are a few memorable tunes arranged in no particular order… Smashing Pumpkins ~ We Only Come Out At Night Great Lake Swimmers ~ I Am Part Of A Large Family drowsy ~ Me and the Pedestal June Carter Cash ~ Ring of Fire Grizzly Bear ~ Lullabye [...]
Here's a list of links from Chris Carder. But first, if you ever google , msn , or yahoo chris carder you'll notice one of the paid ads almost always associated with my name. as of yet, this link does not have any Chris Carder Music, thus a warning label is in order: Carderville Dependent Artists (a swicki - a search community) You Can get Trust Now [...]
A cool breeze in the air. The sun beaming down. Toys all over the floor. Baseball on the television. A cool drink within arms reach. Yes, it seems that summer is just about upon us and I couldn't be happier. Now have you ever wondered what a hazy lazy afternoon sounds like? Perhaps (at least in my world) it sounds something like this. Laid back but a little revved up. MP3 | Joseph Plunket & The Weight - Ships Ten Mile [...]

I did have something else in mind for the Monday Music Roundup this week, but had a flash of inspiration while I was doing a 4-mile run this morning for the 4th of July ( yeah, towards the end of the fourth mile I was wishing the Declaration of Independence was adopted on July 3rd, or even 2nd for that matter ). This being American Independence Day, I wanted to post a few songs that, for no specific reason, evoke America for me. Some of these are loose associations, but I think you'll enjoy. " American [...]
