Different beat, new mix, but still dope. John West ladies and gentlemen.

"I feel like John Legend/ Mixed with a little Kan'," rhymes R&B newcomer John West on the opening rap (!!) verse to his new single "Already There", a line that does a pretty good job describing the feel of the track which, with its heavy drums and warm piano tone, sounds like something Legend and Kanye could have cooked up in a studio together. It's the follow-up to his striking debut, the summery sublime Pusha T-assisted "Lovely" , and a tune that keeps him firmly planted in the "pleasant on the ears" lane, the [...]
John West is making his push into mainstream music with this new single featuring Big Sean. I met John two years ago on the day he got sign to Island Def Jam and he has made tremendous strides in his music career since then. Check out his new video above....
Here are the official visuals for the Robin Thicke clone's collaboration with Big Sean. The Detroit native plays off John West's panty-dropping style perfectly - I can see this one getting some plays around here. Tweet

Guilty Pleasures I always wondered where they got the people for those weird Levi commercials. If you're not man enough to occasionally through a ridiculously pop song into the rotation, then we've still got some work to do. It's been a while since I've posted anything that resembles hip hop, but that's mainly because you all need to go buy the albums. And if you're one of the many who got their hands on Take Care a tad early, that doesn't mean you can't chip in when it drops officially. Outasight - [...]

You all must hate me right now. I don't even know where to begin. Give me a moment to catch up, in the meantime I'm going to throw some tracks on here. Here's a new release from John West featuring Big Sean . The feel of this track is completely different than my introduction to John West a couple months back. It's easy to see that he was going for the radio hit with this one. Whether or not he succeeded I can't tell but the song isn't half bad. Sean does his [...]

Already There feat. Big Sean by John West First song I heard from Def Jam's Robin Thicke sound-alike John West was his Pusha T-assisted Lovely . I can vibe with this one too. via VIBE drink the kool aid:
After building a lot of hype with his Pusha T-assisted single, John West, the singer from Baton Rouge, links up with Big Sean for an upbeat and motivational track. Dope. "I ain't got a dollar, but I'm feeling like a billionaire, You know that we're already there, I ain't got the answers, but I guess [...]

John West 's "Love You Tonight" can't compete with his previous song "Lovely" . (I mean, seriously, how could he compete with a Pusha T appearance?) Still, we can't object to the song or its video. Check it out above.

This John West song "Loved You Tonight" is so sugary sweet that your teeth are going to rot and you won't even care because you'll still be swooning after the song finishes. The video just piles on more sweetness as a girl tries to hunt down West in another part of town. Side note: folks, do not wear your headphones and listen to music while you ride your bike (or at least have the volume down quite a bit if you do). You can grab "Loved You Tonight" along with "Lovely" featuring Pusha T and "Right [...]
I'm glad this song got the video treatment. Let's hope it's starts making its rounds on the net so we can hear more from West.
We're still waiting for an official full-length from Pusha T (one half of the duo Clipse ). It seems the guy has been a featured guest on all sorts of tracks here and there, and it looks like he can add another to his resume with the release of John West 's "Lovely." The video for song is above.
Best way to get a quick listen when you're the new R&B/Pop singer on the block? Get a feature from a Rap artist! I usually hate tracks like this one, mainly because I have to sit through 3 minutes of mediocre crooning for just a few bars from a favorite artist. On this one though, I almost forgot Pusha T was even in the song. I'm new to this guy but I definitely gave his 3 track EP ( John West - Single ) a listen. Lovely was easily the favorite. His vocals [...]

When this debut single by Louisiana-born John West first began making the blog rounds last spring, "How Robin Thicke of him" was the main consensus in feedback, the song's lush R&B flutter and West's laidback, white soul chops making the comparisons damn near unavoidable. That sentiment is only furthered with this week's premiere of the song's music video, starring John looking every bit as debonair and suave lady killer as the talented Alan Thicke offspring, but put those distractions aside and the fittingly-titled "Lovely" is still pure audio bliss, West's soft-to-the-touch wordless declaration of love ("It's [...]
It looks like this past week Pusha T has been making a run at the ladies. First with the radio ready Kevin Cossom feature , and now this dashing duet with John West. "Lovely" features the soothing vocals of John West over a crisp piano line and a Pusha verse to cap it off. While I wasn't totally feeling "Feeling Myself", I can definitely get down to this. This song appeared on a 3-song bundle that John West put out not long ago for his Mercury Records debut. Hit the skip to watch the video.
