People really got excited for a new Star Wars movie. Lines around the block - it was an unprecedented event. Now, while there is still quite a bit of excitement for the upcoming Clone Wars movie, set to be released tomorrow, it's not quite the same. I'm not expecting something overly spectacular or deep, nothing that is likely to affect me in quite the same way that seeing the films for the first time did, but I'm expecting to have a fun time. Yes, George Lucas has become [...]

SOUNDTRACK ANALYSIS: A Look at John Williams' Work on the Soundtrack for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull: [Editor's Note: From here forward the title for this film will only be referred to as " Crystal Skull " or " Indie 4. "] The soundtrack, released on Concord Records, is in stores now. I don't listen to much orchestra, but through my passion of powerful [...]

Once again, I'll date myself by admitting to remembering seeing the original Indiana Jones movie in the theaters. I can also remember the TV show named Young Indy or something like that that didn't quite live up to the caliber that Harrison Ford set for the role. And I'm sure just like every other boy who watched Indy crack his whip, get the girl, and get away with some sweet lute, I had dreams of becoming an archaeologist. Of course I didn't (I am a teacher though - somewhat close to Jones' mild-mannered university [...]
More videos today than normal, but I guarantee this one is worth it. Inspired by my desire to see the new Indy tonight, check out what some guys in San Francisco did. They built a giant boulder out of legos, dressed their friend up as Indiana Jones, and made him run away from it. Get [...]

With the upcoming WE LOVE SOUNDS festival featuring Mr. Oizo from ED Banger Records (France), I thought it appropriate to post his remix of " Killing In The Name ". Originally by Rage Against The Machine & edited By SebastiAn , this little gem might actually make you go insane. In the good way of course. Also I'm adding SebasitAn 's edit & another couple Rage Againtst The Machine remixes. [...]

First we have John Williams' "The Imperial March." Some may know it as the Star Wars Darth Vader introduction, some may know it because it was Swine Forkbeard's intro. Either way it makes me feel extra nerdy whenever I rock out to it, therefore... Guilty! John Williams- The Imperial March Last we have ourselves "Leggy Blonde" by Flight of the Conchords. Not only is this song completely ridiculous, it reminds me of Murray from Flight of the Conchords and that makes me laugh. He is a silly, silly man. [...]

John Towner Williams est un compositeur , chef d'orchestre et pianiste américain , né le 8 février 1932 à New York , États-Unis . Il est principalement connu pour ses musiques de films . The inenarrable godhead of delight? Love is a flame:-we have beaconed the world's night. A city:-and we have built it, these and I. An emperor:-we have taught the world to die. So, for their sakes I loved, ere I go hence, And the high cause of Love's magnificence, And to keep loyalties young, I'll write those names Golden for ever, eagles, crying flames, And set them as a banner, that men may know, To dare the generations, burn, and blow Out on the wind of Time, shining and streaming . [...]

I'm going to do this as a sort of teaser for this week's CYA mix. As I've mentioned before, and reiterate: I'm a geek. I'm also a member of the 501st Legion, as a Storm Trooper. I'm doing two events this week, one tomorrow at the Vermont Philharmonic Orchestra performance tomorrow, and will also be with my fellow troopers in the Boston St. Patrick's Day Parade. So, to celebrate, here's a couple versions of the outstanding Imperial March, aka Darth Vader's theme: Imperial March - John Williams [...]
Patti Page: We Wish You a Merry Christmas Really, we do. This with the obligatory kid's chorus. Tell me, though, what the hell is figgy pudding? Is it good? Does anyone have a recipe? Nat King Cole: Joy to the World This my obligatory Nat King Cole post. Stevie Wonder: Silver Bells It's Christmas time in the city, all right. Bing Crosby: Silver Bells Vic Damone: Joy to the World John

A friend of mine just sent this video to me of a 10 minute sneak preview of an upcoming Stars Wars themed Family Guy episode. I stopped watching Family Guy a long time ago, but i'll admit that coming from a huge Star Wars geek, this preview is pretty fucking good. I'm not sure how long this video will be up, but check it out while you can. It looks like the episode will be premiered sometime next season [...]
On May 25th, 1977 Star Wars entered our collective consciousness. If you're old enough to remember the film's opening day, well, you're older than us; but George Lucas (bless his wookie heart) had at least thirty years of plot tinkering to do, thus ensuring all future generations would drop their allowance on toys you're not even supposed to take out of the goddamned box. ANYWAY, here at Stereogum we're gonna celebrate the only way we know how: by breaking down the sci-fi saga's greatest contributions to music, and not posting a Nerf Herder MP3. [...]
Day 8 in a crazy attempt to post 5 Christmas songs every day till Christmas Carol Of The Bells is probably my favorite of the classic Christmas tunes. It's also known as the "Ukranian Bell Carol" and was first played to American audiences in 1921 at Carnegie Hall. It also seems to be the version that let's people get really creative with their renditions. Check out these 5 totally different versions arranged from shortest (1:18) to longest (6:19). John Williams - Carol Of [...]
HAY EVERYBODYZ!!! This be a guest post. Let me explain. After Game 1 of the World Series, Ben would not shut up about how the Tigers would win and how sorry the National League conference was. Never one to shy away from an opportunity to pwn an arrogant east coaster (okay, half-Jewish arrogant east coaster), I bet him that the Cardinals would win. Well, guess who won a guest post on the other's site? Imagine my dismay when I realized [...]
On The Simpsons last night, viewers were treated to both The Ramones ' "Beat on the Brat" and an allergies-as-light-sabre fight to "The Duel of the Fates" from Star Wars: Episode 1 . Classic... The Simpsons really are in rare form this season so far (in anticipation of The Simpsons Movie ?) Playlist: [...]

Today's Soundtrack Saturday, which marks the end of Soundtrack Week here on Looking at Them, is brought to you by my inner geek. That's right, kids, I'm posting songs from the original Star Wars trilogy. I've been in a sci-fi dork mood today, watching various sci-fi movies and shows about space on the Discovery Science channel . I think this was all brought on by the shuttle mission this month. Don't be surprised if one day soon, you see me posting songs from Star Trek soundtracks. Yes, I said it. [...]
