Perhaps those most astonishing things in life arrive not only when they're least expected, but so too from wholly unpredictable places. And this from Winter Trees – aka young, and seemingly lovelorn Belgian Ben Demeyer – slips right into the above bracket. That is to say that Demeyer hails from Zoersel, a municipality located in the northernmost province of Antwerp (as Wikipedia so dutifully informs) that I'd never even so much as heard of mere moments ago, and his creative outpour just so happened to meander into our attentions via an only sporadically inhabited Tumblr inbox. Some things [...]
Radiohead co-pilot Johnny Greenwood is making quite the name for himself as a fledging film composer, famously working on Paul Thomas Anderson's deranged masterpiece There Will Be Blood (we still can't believe the Academy snubbed Greenwood's tense and nervous score). Anderson called upon Greenwood's talents again for his controversial new film, The Master . Listen to this terrific excerpt from the score, "Application 45 Version 1." Try not to lose yourself in a cloud of paranoia and doubt once those dissonant strings kick in. [...]

In 2007, Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood flexed his orchestration muscles with the utterly jaw-dropping soundtrack to Paul Thomas Anderson’s There Will Be Blood . Once again, the two have connected on another huge project, Anderson’s upcoming The Master. The film focuses on a cult leader, played by Philip-Seymour Hoffman, and new member Freddie Sutton, played by Joaquin Phoenix, the centerpiece of the Greenwood-orchestrated teaser trailer. You can check it out below. The Master is scheduled for release this October.

Interesting team up of rapper DOOM with Radiohead's Thom Yorke and Johnny Greenwood . The song is quite unexpected, but is a pretty cool track. I think DOOM's flow is a little awkward at parts, but the song is growing on me. Also.the title "Retarded Fren" is someone strange, maybe offensive to some, but look past that and give it a chance. The collaboration is in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Lex Records . Via Illroots Fresh? [...]

Here's the first release in part of Lex Records' 10th anniversary compilation Complex - new tracks by artists and bands on, or associated with the label, released every Monday for 10 weeks starting November 7th. Anytime DOOM does anything, it's notable to me. Radioheads Yorke & Greenwood delivered some cool production for the enigmatic masked superhero. drink the kool aid:
RETARDED FREN features vocals by DOOM and production by Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood. It’s the first part of Lex Records 10th anniversary compilation Complex
Holy hell, where did this come from?! To celebrate the tenth anniversary of Lex Records , Thom Yorke, Johnny Greenwood and DOOM collaborate to create "Retarded Fren". The production is whimsical and dark, and the DOOM wordplay is beyond exceptional - exactly what you would have expected from this star-studded trio. If only we knew there would be more materializing between these fabulous artists! Hit the skip to stream the single.
As the title of this post points out, this unlikely trio have collaborated on a track for Lex Records ' 10th anniversary. It's an off-kilter track that fans of Radiohead and DOOM's recent material are likely to fall in love with. [via P4K] DOOM, Thom Yorke + Johnny Greenwood: "Retarded Fren"

![[Ones To Watch] – Introducing – Nerves Junior](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3653280_lg.jpg)
Tweet Sometimes labelling a band 'One To Watch' can be a bit of a gamble. They might only have a promising EP, or a mighty good single. Not so with Nerves Junior : we've got a preview copy of their debut album, and it's killer. The album, called "As Bright As Your Night Light", isn't out until September 6th, but, so you don't have to just take my word for it, we can share two tracks with you right now. One of them [...]

I never got into Radiohead when they first got big. I had heard songs like "Creep" and "Karma Police" - which, by the way, I wouldn't even put in their top ten having deeply explored their catalog - but they didn't do it for me enough to give Kid A or OK Computer more than a cursory look. As much overwrought emotion as I felt during my teenage years, those albums just didn't give me the catharsis my angst-ridden 13 year old self was looking for. Now, when I look back on [...]

Forgot about this, but it's been up on DiS for a while. Good review , but mistakes got picked up on the talkback. Hate it when that happens...

For those Radiohead fans who were left searching for Jonny Greenwood 's presence and influence on the predominantly beat-driven King Of Limbs, his moving and deeply affecting score for Norwegian Wood won't satisfy those that long to hear Greenwood's scorching guitar work, but it will give listeners yet another unique glimpse into the heart and mind of a truly talented virtuoso. Greenwood wrote all eleven original pieces featured on the soundtrack (which also includes three classic numbers from the avant-garde German outfit Can), which were in turn brought to dynamic life by the estimable BBC [...]
If it seems like every other CoS post lately is about a film score, it’s only because Alex Young dictated that if Kanye Wes t could only appear in half of the site’s posts, than the other half must feature news about film scores. Luckily, there is plenty of news to go around on the subject. Some of the news was even 20 years old, like the Eddie Van Halen's score for The Wild Life . But Tron 2 leads a pack of recent or upcoming films to feature original scores from popular musical [...]
We picked Bryan Ferry 's new album Olympia as one of our must buys for 2010's last three months because of reasons like this: Track six, "Song to the Siren", features - in no particular order - David Gilmour, Radiohead's Johnny Greenwood, Nile Rodgers, and Roxy Music members Eno, Phil Manzanera, and Andy Mackay. I mean, with that many proven minds how can it not be good? Props to Stereogum for proving us right. Olympia hits stores on October 26th via Astralwerks . Below, you can find a list of [...]
Here’s something the Boy Scouts can’t get angry about . Earlier this month, our own Jeremy Larson told us that members of Radiohead were contributing to the latest Edward Norton film – Stone . The problem, though, was there weren’t many details to report outside of the fact that band members Johnny Greenwood and Thom Yorke were contributing what Norton called “weird ambient stuff” for the “John O’Brien” scored film. Now (thanks to our friends at TwentyFourBit ), we’ve got a little clarity. [...]
