Caught the second night of Neko Case's two night run at the at the Warfield a couple weeks ago. It was a fabulous evening with that big-as-a-house voice of hers in fine form and along with regular companion Kelly Hogan we were treated to some of the best between song banter in the business. Unfortunately the new material from Middle Cyclone was delivered with less enthusiasm then the older stuff she played. I couldn't help thinking a well placed cover would have livened things up a bit. To that end I threw together of couple of songs by other folks [...]

One of the nicest guys – and probably one of the most talented – you'll meet is Jon Rauhouse , pedal-steel guru and touring member of Neko Case's band. (Previously discussed here and a little bit here .) Rauhouse, on the heels of his 2007 release Steel Guitar Heart Attack ( Bloodshot ), has picked up a Tempe date, Feb. 8 at Green , a vegetarian restaurant (unique choice). Also, be sure to check out Rauhouse on Aquarium Drunkard's fantastic series Off the Record in [...]
Off The Record is a recurring, feature here on the Drunkard, that marries two of my greatest interests; music and travel. There's a certain emotion to it, an instrument that really seems to have a voice of its own. Nobody plays it better than Jon Rauhouse , a man we're proud to call an Arizonan. Besides being a member of Neko Case's band, Rauhouse's extensive credits include playing with Calexico (whose [...]
