Over the last couple of years when we've written about The Polyphonic Spree it mostly focused around their enthusiasm for holiday music. On August 6, the choral-rock ensemble will release their properly punctuated album - Yes, It's True. - their first set of new material since 20072s The Fragile Army . The Tim DeLaughter fronted act, who harnessed the power of crowd-sourcing to help fund their new record in raising $100,000, will head out for a 12-date summer tour, which includes a high profile appearance at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, as well [...]

Returning for a third outing, if this year streamlined to but the one solitary day next month is to witness the return of All Tomorrow's Parties' tangential I'll Be Your Mirror festival to Alexandra Palace for an afternoon-cum-early evening-cum-black night shebang which looks set to be explosive, and so too expansive as any other. For where previous editions have focussed on altogether gloomier aesthetics ( Portishead called upon anyone and everyone from DOOM and Company Flow to Swans and GY!BE, whilst last year featured the likes of the Melvins, Slayer, Codeine and so on) this [...]

Check out the list below. Jon Spencer Blues Explosion tour dates: 06/14/13 - [...]

In their video for " Bag Of Bones ," a troglodytic stomp-rocker from their 2012 comeback album Meat And Bones , the members of the reunited '90s underground hellraisers Jon Spencer Blues Explosion appear in animated form. "Don't call it a comeback" is usually a phrase uttered self-protectively by musicians who are very much coming back from some degree of obscurity. Dr. Dre wasn't exactly absent during the seven-year stretch between his first and second albums ("California Love," anybody?), but his 1999 sophomore release 2001 is littered with lines like "Ladies pay homage, but haters say Dre fell off/ How, nigga? My last album was The Chronic ." If he ever gets around to releasing Detox , it'll surely be stacked with similar "I never went away" rhetoric (and, undoubtedly, lyrics about headphones.) [...]
