I like big butts and I can not lie’. Dan besef je pas dat het een cover is van Sir-Mix-A-Lot. De productie is van een hoge kwaliteit waardoor je nauwelijks merkt waarover hij zingt. [...]
News that Jonathan Coulton responded to Glee's blatant ripoff of his cover of " Baby Got Back " by rereleasing it " In the Style of Glee " has met with a great deal of positive approval on the web. Since Glee is apparently in the clear legally, the battle has now moved to the court of public opinion. There Glee's betrayal of the show's values is being seen as a reminder that those who feel that anything that isn't illegal is ok to do are inherently untrustworthy members of civil society. [...]
Baby Got Back - Jonathan Coulton vs. Baby Got Back (Glee Cast Version) [HQ Full Studio] by VJ FAV | YouTube Doubler | Mashup Helper .

Each year I shun Christmas music like it's the plague. It begins too early, is far too repetitive, and, quite frankly, is a bit boring. That is, until this year. It began with "The Week Between", a new track off One Christmas at a Time , an LP that finds Jonathan Coulton and John Roderick (The Long Winters) collaborating for a full album of original Christmas music. My thoughts began to change. If this song can be so amazing, what about other [...]

Jonathan Coulton just announced that pre-sales have begun for his holiday CD, One Christmas at a Time. One Christmas at a Time features 10 original Christmas songs by Roderick and Coulton. The duo originally set out to make a covers album but, uninspired by the standard holiday fare, ended up writing their own tunes. They are releasing the album independently on November 15th. The holiday song collection will be offered as a digital download ($10), signed CD ($20) and a Deluxe Gift Box edition ($55) that contains the signed CD, an official T-Shirt, [...]

Frank Yang Cosmic questions: What makes an artist put a respectable if underappreciated solo career on hold in order to play drums for a band that's sold hundreds of thousands of records and gone platinum in the UK? And what makes that same artist leave that band in order to not resurrect their former solo career but start a completely new one? Okay, the first one is kind of a no-brainer but the second one is more of a puzzle, one that Baltimore-born, Los Angeles-based Josh Tillman is uniquely positioned to answer. He was plugging [...]
Today's selection of creative music marketing examples once again focuses on work in which the graphic presentation is as much a part of the art as the music. For the most part the marketing aspect is secondary. But the entertaining public domain footage for a Jonathan Coulton fan video, Animal Collective's museum installation brought to the web and BecomingAPoet's single page site enhancing their EP release all can be viewed through the lens of music marketing without hurting the art one bit. Jonathan Coulton [...]

Guest post by musician Jonathan Coulton . Uh oh, he's blogging. What happened? I wrote this thing on Twitter this morning about the MegaUpload shutdown, and it's gotten some crazy traction on the old internet. In addition, I've just done a couple of interviews for NPR on the subject, and I think I may have said some crazy, provocative things. There are many comments and questions out there already with more to come, and rather than have a bunch of separate discussions on a bunch of different social [...]
