Once more, here is August's edition of the Music Alliance Pact . For those of you who don't know about MAP, it's a collection of music blogs from around the world who band together once a month to shed light on up-and-comers from their home countries. It's sort of like the WTO without the human rights violations. This month we've welcomed five new countries: China, Greece, India, Indonesia, and South Africa . This edition showcases 31 tracks from around the world. Once again I've gone ahead and [...]
I'm a couple days late, but here is the MAP entries for August. ARGENTINA: Zonaindie Baby Scream - Ups And Downs Baby Scream is a musical project led by Juan Mazzola, with the ocassional collaboration of friends such as Cristian Basualdo, Sebastián Rubin and even Gilby Clarke's bassist Muddy Stardust. Mazzola writes pop songs with a strong influence from classics like The Byrds, The Beatles [...]

Indiecision is proud to be part of the Music Alliance Pact - a collective of 31 of the world's top music blogs and webzines from 31 countries spanning six continents. Every month, each of these 31 sites picks one hot local song that gets posted on all these great blogs and zines. This month, we picked lyrical pop duo Sridhar/Thayil 's 'Bring Me Rain' as the Indian track on this massive mixtape. They're currently working on their debut album; we checked them out at a set at the Blue Frog a couple of months ago. [...]

MAP (Music Alliance Pact) asks 31 music bloggers (now taking entries from Greece, China, South Africa, Indonesia and India) across the world to share a track from their home country that they think you should hear. My Irish pick this month: The Dying Seconds. ARGENTINA: Zonaindie Baby Scream - Ups And Downs Baby Scream is a musical project led by Juan Mazzola, [...]

The title says it all, random songs on a Saturday :) Bat For Lashes - Travelling Woman (mp3) My Darling YOU! - I Am Supposed To Feel (mp3) Boy In Static - Star-Crossed Killer [...]

Spent, I don't know how many, hours yesterday trying to come up with something clever to write about the sophomore album Dear Unknown Friend from The William Blakes , and came up with exactly nothing. Some wise ass might feel tempted to ask, why this suddenly stops me from posting anything, but trust me when I tell you that the writings yesterday were the worst ever (EVER!). But it's time to move on, and my summed up thoughts are that this is a surprisingly brilliant album. Surprised because the debut was released less [...]

Photo: Stefania Paparelli. Shadows, you say, can fool the eye about how close a foothill may be and yes, I see how less indigo gives the water a less fearsome depth and that white is white and I won't need much. I accept this won't be a week of animals and that you'll tell me when I'm ready. - Nance Van Winkel, Knowing No Better . Jong Pang - Small Cut Sensations Bra indiepop från våra grannar Danmark. Låten är från debuten Bright White Light som släpptes i mars förra året i Danmark.
Another dip into The Mark Out's mailbag reveals two rather spiffing new bands itching to get their music heard. First up; Young Sensation! , another band who like their punctuation, and have a sleek line in sharp, indie pop but with a tasty jagged edge to it. Amongst their influences they list Arcade Fire, Interpol, Comet Gain and Wolf Parade which are all pretty much dead-on musical comparisons. Download their excellent new single, Kitty Magic : Young Sensation! - Kitty Magic (MP3) The lead singer [...]

Ambition can play an interesting role in an artist's production of their own music, especially during a dramatic period of stylistic transition. It sounds like common sense, but if one were to intricately shuffle through an influential artist's entire discography, it would likely not prove very difficult to identify an ambitious peak. That being said, a high level of ambition does not always equate to success. Using a few commercially successful artists as an example: For every critically acclaimed classic like the sprawling White Album , there is usually something like Metal Machine Music that has warranted [...]
I suppose if I was more on the ball (more Dutchesque if you like) I would have spotted that Jong Pang have nothing at all to do with Joe Lean and the Jing Jang Jong. They come from a different country for one thing but in my 'gotta go through as many new bands as possible' blogger mindset I wrongly surmised that I'd already been there so quickly moved on. Anyway, the Gods conspired to bring me

I've written about Danish one-man project Jong Pang back in December (read here ), and yesterday, the label Tigerspring has sent me the first single off the debut album Bright White Light . Small Cut Sensations is yet another fine pop-tune that I immediately loved, and you should, too! Jong Pang will be playing some dates in London in June, and a few festivals are also [...]
Songs That Might Otherwise Pass You By Jong Pang, "Stains On Your Sweater" (Thanks to Fingertips for the tip on this) This is a strange and fascinating song. The music is urgent, tense, but not heavy. The singer's voice is cutting and clear, like a cloudless blue sky on a very cold day. The song makes me think of a frozen scene just beginning to thaw and come to life. The guitar is the first
