Junip - "In Every Direction" (Dale Earnhardt Jr Jr Remix) by Some Kind of Awesome

The Jose Gonzalez led outfit, Junip, are getting set to release a digital EP bundle for the single "In Every Direction." The new EP will feature few new songs and remixes. You can check out one of the new songs titled "Näckrosdammen" in the player below. But if that doesn't cure your Jose Gonzalez or Junip craving, the boys stopped by TheAlternateSide.org to play a few tunes, which you can catch after the jump. Junip - Näckrosdammen [...]

Blogging at the crossroads of coverage and folk music makes for a venn diagram audience: some folks come for the ethnography, others come because they see what we do here at Cover Lay Down as somewhere between a reclamation and repudiation of the popular. And though both blogwatching indie hipsters and purist folkfans claim to represent outsider's canons, the mere singularity of our existence suggests there's not a strong overlap in experience or taste between these groups outside of our little node. Recognizing this allows us to predict a relatively large familiarity gap [...]

valentines day is bullshit and so i am protesting it. this short mix is for the heartbroken, angry and/or lonely, cause you deserve some love today even more than the rest of 'em. i am sure i stand in stupendous company and someday it will all feel better! and anyway...i'd rather get a mixtape from a stranger that speaks to my soul than a dozen stereotypical red roses from any 'ol whatsohis/hersoface any day (although, a handful of tulips can be quite enticing. just saying). ...somebody out there *must* be listening... i *am* listening. [...]
![[Watch] – Benoit Pioulard – “Lasted”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/3149652_lg.jpg)
I have been OBSESSED with this song since release, and if you haven't been aware, then I'm very much sorry for your missing out on it. Benoît Pioulard, aka Thomas Meluch, released this song in October on his album, "Lasted". His third album, and in my opinion, the best, has been very well received. Reminding me of Jose Gonzalez, I have been listening to this song non-stop, and the video only makes it better. Thomas Meluch is the hipster dream, a modern day hip renaissance man. A singer-songwriter who is a writer and photographer, as well as plays a [...]

Sometimes I wish I could have experienced living in the Wild West. Sure, I know it wouldn't be nearly as romanticized as hollywood has us believe, but who cares. As things are, it seems the best I can do is watch 'The Good, the Bad and the Ugly,' 'Tombstone' or '3:10 to Yuma' or play some Red Dead Redemption. Yes, I know I'm pigeonholing myself here to people who play videogames - but RDR is a truly amazing Western experience. For me much of the reason that Red Dead Redemption is so amazing is because of the soundtrack. [...]

Jose Gonzalez, one of our favorite sombre folkies, is coming to Kuwait . REUSE 4.0 is clocking him in between his Australian and European tour with his new band Junip to stop over in Kuwait City for a one night only show at the environmentally conscious exhibition. His show will be of his solo material from both his albums, Veneer and In Our Nature , that are Loft965.com favorites. The show will take place in the Australian College of Kuwait ( ACK ). Let's hope we hear some [...]

I've watched the above video of Junip captured beautifully by the folks at Big Ass Lens at least a dozen times since seeing it for the first time. If you have yet to explore to beauty of the José González led Junip, then please take the time to pick up a copy of their record, Fields . It's fantastic. Elsewhere: Saddle Creek announces that Bright Eyes will release The People's Key [...]

Junip It was interesting to see the amount of people that arrived at The Independent that night to see Junip , featuring Tobias Winterkorn (keyboards), Elias Araya (drums) and José González (vocals & guitar). My experience with solo artist side projects are a bit disappointing as most fans are looking for that artist's original solo material and not the 'band stuff'. While I would not be surprised that people were left feeling cheated, they unfortunately are in the minority. Junip is more that José González and his band. [...]

José Gonzalez - The Nest "This next song is about nationalism and paranoia,” said Gonzalez in two-thousand-and-seven. Opening seconds give way to the slightest of inhale-exhale action, subtle to the Nest ’s air – soon swamped by plucked notes of meandering-water delivery. “Saw them gathering sticks from the ground by the thicket while assembling the nest.” Through the production, hearing the strings rattle is as vital to this song as hearing a pianist’s pedal feel the brunt of a slamming dusted foot on any instrumental. It’s what puts you in the same room, “Building frantically [...]
![[MP3] Maur Due & Lichter remix Zero 7 and José González’s “Futures”](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2896361_lg.jpg)
Remember Maur Due & Lichter ? The electroacoustic Austrian duo whom I fell in love with after listening to their debut album, Another Day . Well, they're back with a bonus remix of Zero 7 and José González's tune "Futures" from The Garden . Maur Due & Lichter's take on the song makes it an even glitchier Zero 7 track, with much more power and oomph. It's faster paced, and not exactly the lounge-y listening of the original. Bottom line: Maur Due & Lichter continue [...]
Did you know you can only fold a piece of paper in half 7 times? Eight times if it's a thin napkin or tissue. If somehow you were able to fold it 42 times in half...it would stretch up to the moon. Swear. I tried to explain exponential growth to a friend. They didn't get it. They could not believe I was serious...and they thought I was a fool for suggesting such. To me, exponential growth

Words by Jim Label: Temeshet, Mute, City Slang, Shock, Ultra Vyb Release Date: September 14, 2010 José González is a gentle soul. He’s one of those artists that seem to be easily swept underneath the rug. I’m not saying he’s talentless or deserves to live with the dust bunnies, I’m just saying he doesn’t make a big stink. He seems modest. He seems tender. I could be totally wrong. He could be an ass, but we, the music listener, fake these relationships [...]

Junip - Always Click here to view the embedded video. Mocht je ze gemist hebben op festival De Affaire dan kan je over een maandje de herkansing pakken in Trouw .
This debut album by the Jose Gonzalez-led Junip has been in the pipeline for about five years now, but it's finally here. Actually, it's probably been in the pipeline for longer than that, the band having formed 10 years ago, but we've been waiting at least five years for it since that's when they released their debut EP "Black Refuge". Back in May they released another EP called "Rope And Summit" which you can listen to and download for free , but now they're debut album is here, and thanks to NPR you can listen to [...]
