Due to my stupidity and some serious confusion, I missed my first radio show. I had the whole thing planned out - nearly every song chosen, ready to play and discuss. I suppose instead I will do this weeks radio show here! \\Open Road - Alex Woodard \\Cold Day - Sonya Kitchell Ive been enjoying Sonya Kitchell's work for some time now. This song is just beautiful. \\Coast is Clear - In

[cover art adapted from Bright Eyes' "Letting Off The Happiness" booklet art] To conform to my new standards for graphical representation of the musical files featured on this site, the second volume of Untitled features, among other things, bigger, better and far more interesting artwork. There's even a front cover, believe it or not! If you choose to listen, you'll find out a number of things, a couple of which I'll document here just in case you really are exceptionally stupid. The music in the first half is generally very upbeat, with the exception of the [...]
Here are four things I'm truly enthusiastic about, and perhaps they might not all have been created this year, but they were all new to me in '06. So, in no particular order: 1. FOUR VOLTS - "Triple Your Work Force". There are tons of bands trying to inherit a forward-thinking mantle while building off [...]

Wes asked me to post some "Non Veneer" Jose songs up. So here, for a very short time.. Jose Gonzalez - Sensing Owls (live) Jose Gonzalez - Storm Jose Gonzalez - Love with tear us apart (Joy Division cover) Jose Gonzalez - Hand on your Heart (Kylie Minogue cover) BUY the EP's HERE .

So for an early birthday present, my friend, took me to see Jose Gonzalez at the Brooklyn Lyceum on Tuesday. The show was sold out and the venue, which looks a bit like an art co-op or something, was boiling hot when filled. However, Jose was great. He talked very little between songs and played the usuals, (Heartbeats, Deadweight, Crosses) and some not so expected songs (Storm, Love will Tear us apart and one new song.) (from my phone again) Oh yeah, favorite quote of the night, as Jose strums [...]

I was a little confused and unsure about José González playing the Vista movie theater last week. I guess it is an appropriate venue: he is big enough now to fill it up, and his soft-spoken songs are great but can create some pretty tired and sore legs in standing-room-only venues. Hearing that it sold out, I was worried I'd be staring at a speck of light from the back of the theater, so I showed up early... ok, on time, and ended up front & center in a spot that was closer to him than the [...]

While day three of the festival wasn't filled with performances as amazing as the second day had been, things certainly got off to a hectic start and ended on an incredible note. I started Sunday by oversleeping - we had planned to get an earlier start to go out for breakfast before we hit the festival. We still made it to breakfast, but while there it started to rain - little sprinkles at first, turning into a steadier, wetter drizzle. My friend Yen and I decided to run across the street to CVS [...]
one night to be confused one night to speed up truth we had a promise made four hands and then away both under influence we had devine scent to know what to say mind is a razorblade to call for hands of above to lean on wouldn't be good enough for me, no one night of magic rush the start of simple touch one night to push and scream and then relief [...]

Isn't Sunday supposed to be a day of rest? Final day and what a day it will be. Starting at 11:45, labeled as a "marching band gone wild", Anathallo makes music using almost anything and have a sound that mixes the Polyphonic Spree with The Arcade Fire. If you are easy like Sunday morning, see Rocky Votolato , a Seattle based songwriter with a that you expect to hear coming out of your local coffeehouse. In the [...]
One of my favorite singer-songwriters of all time, José Gonzales is about to begin touring in the United States. It is my duty to make sure you catch one of his shows, because this is one artist that you don't want to miss. He is an amazing guitar player, and he is very reminiscent of Nick Drake. Veneer is one of my favorite albums of 2005, and the EP's that he has put out are just as
I will forever rue the day that I neglected to write about José González. It was while SXSW 2006 was going full force and, as I was not actually in Austin, I was spending a great deal of time downloading and listening to the bands who were. There was a month in there [...]

You can't beat a good cover version so I though I would put links to some of my favorite. Sarah Harmer - Left and Leaving (The Weakerthans cover) José González â€" Teardrop (Live Massive Attack Cover) Elliott Smith - Thirteen (Big Star cover) Colin Meloy - The Ballad of El Goodo (Big Star cover)

Erlend Øye So uh, I'm kinda bored. What to do, what to do...oh yeah, I'll give you some songs: Teen Angst - M83 [ indiechristoph. favorite] I Just Don't Think I'll Ever Get Over You - Colin Hay The Black Keys Work - Erlend Øye Sleeping With Ghosts - Placebo What Else Is There? (Vitalic Remix) - Röyksopp [...]
This time it's Massive Attack's Teardrop. The recording could be better, but it's an interesting presentation of one of those songs that you never thought could be any other way. Thanks to Frank from Chromewaves. Tick tock goes the Friday clock.
