I'm a few months late on this Author ( Jack Sparrow , Ruckspin ) live session for Marry Anne Hobbs' XFM show , but I made up for that by listening to it five times yesterday. It's essentially their latest album with a few other original tidbits, I'm bummed I didn't get this release in my " Best of 2011 " list. Author (Live): After Time (feat. Quark) Roman Sunshine (feat. Quark) Dashiki HYC Turn VIP Sun Mothership Fix Roots Vibration [...]
This work in progress from Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin is, to date, probably my favorite of their collabs. There's no word regarding a prospected completion date, but I'm crossing my fingers for a vinyl release at some point. Jack Sparrow - Entrapment (feat. Ruckspin) (work in progress)
Beyond finding out that Maidu is Leeds-based, has a Myspace/Facebook account, and MIGHT also make music under the Tzfat, I can't really tell you much about him or her, except that I have come across some of the most striking ambient music I've heard in a while. The track entitled "The Way I See You", still [...]

The track entitled "The Way I See You", still a "work in progress," is below along with a remix from one half of Author , J Sparrow , which I believe is a finished piece of work. No word on release dates or EP. [...]
Combined Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin create the standout UK Bass and Dubstep outfit know to their friends, fans, family, aquintances and the general population as Author. Their self titled album was released earlier this year and is maybe best described as a fusion of jazz horns, strings, piano solos, deep bass, and dark yet ambient dubstep. Imagine Digital Mystikz (DMZ) making nasty love to Cinematic Orchestra , and the subsequent offspring being fed a strict diet of non wobbly dubstep, roots, and jazz fusion. The mix below is a live [...]

The internet connection vicariously cabled into my shire hovel may have given out on me yesterday, leaving me stranded in what is effectively the '80s, but I have journeyed across town to source a reliable vein in order to update this oh-so-well-respected source of new electronic music (phew). The update in question pertains to a rather spiffing collaboration between Jack Sparrow, Ruckspin and another Leeds head, Quantum Soul. You may recall Spaz and Ruckz, as I often call them, recently released a rather delectable album as duo Author , so it's fairly standard to assume whatever they throw in [...]

Author is the brainchild of Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin , both based out of Leeds. If there is anyone wanting to get into an discussion about the future of dubstep, all I can really say on the matter is that I really hope it sounds like this. Still keeping deep roots bass line, currently making my chest vibrate, that should please all the original dubsteppers. Author sounds as though they are bringing a trunk full of jazzy brass instruments, a la Cinematic Orchestra and a bucket or [...]

As I'm sure you're aware, Dubstep has transformed quite a bit over the past couple of years. I don't really want to get into that discussion, but I do want to show some love to a couple of the artists who are still producing the kind of dub that's acceptable outside of the US; Author, a duo by way of Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin . The alias recently put out a two track EP on the UK based Tectonic Records and I recommend it to anyone who likes Dubstep, but isn't into having their [...]
Two bass music heroes join up for new collaboration on Tectonic...
Following their previous collaboration on Get Darker's This is Dubstep 2011 , Leeds based producers Jack Sparrow and Ruckspin recently came together to form Author, a project focused on experimenting with dubstep, collaborating with live musicians and drawing on a wide range of eclectic influences, such as Kruder and Dorfmeister's infamous K&D Sessions and Cinematic Orchestra. The impatient among us - aka me - won't have to wait long for some substantial output because their self-titled debut is set to drop next month on Pinch's Tectonic imprint and judging by the current samples I've heard, it should [...]
I don't know what it's like where you are, but it's probably a nicer and sunnier day today than we've had all summer. So let's kick this week's mix selection off with a set of chunky, good-times jackers from our brethren Heavyfeet. This is a recreation of a set James HF played out in Paris the other week, when he was on after Moodyman - so needed to keep it pretty classic house! This is a wicked selection of 90's influenced, swangin' house music. Check it: Next, there's the remarkably [...]

If I remember correctly, this new Jack Sparrow track got something like 11,000 listens in two days? I don't know, but for those who aren't buying the commercial "dubstep" that seems to be taking over these days, Jack Sparrow's brand of the genre is a very worthy alternative. Check out his rework of De Nero & Y's "Gold" below and an older post with a couple more tracks here . De Niro & Y feat. Estel Luz - Gold (Jack Sparrow Remix) Kyle S Filed [...]
