Our beloved Jubilee goes through some growing pains, but the the bands ensure they still deliver in the end.
A new location and a weekday start lent the 2013 Jubilee a different feel than previous years, but emerging bands still shone.

Photos by Debi Del Grande Saturday's Jubilee was a little less thrashing about and a lot more dancing with The Drums, Calvin Love, Fool's Gold, Cayucas, Dwntwn, Tapioca and the Flea, NO, Broadheds, The Dead Ships, Great White Buffalo, Golden Sun, Big Tree, Western Lows, Beat Club, and Hott Mt. Sunny pop, wacky rap, mind-bending psychedelia, indie anthems, roaring blues-rock — Day 2 of the J ubilee Music & Arts Festival had a little bit of everything. On a gorgeous Saturday night, it was reason, as DWNTWN's Jamie Leffler [top photo] showed, to toss your hair around. Here are some photographic highlights from Carl Pocket , and there's more after the jump:

[Buzz Bands LA contributor Dan Frazier covers Saturday at Jubilee:] By Dan Frazier The second day of the the Jubilee Music & Arts Festival again failed to attract big crowds Saturday — Friday was light too — but that didn't stop the bands from playing as if they were at a massive. In fact, on a night that was capped by a headlining performance by the Drums [above], it was a [...]

The opener of the Jubilee Music & Arts Festival might have been light on the crowds, but there was no shortage of energy from the performers. Kitten [top photo], Trash Talk, the Black Lips and Obliterations peeled what was left of the paint off the the downtown warehouse complex that hosted the venue, and whether it roared or purred, the music was top-notch throughout the day. Here is our report from Day 1 . Above, highlights from photographer Carl Pocket . After the jump, there's more :

For all its promotional heft, the reinvented, relocated Jubilee Music & Arts Festival on Friday felt like Introduction to Concert-Going. That owed mostly to the crowd, which was not only alarmingly sparse but very young. Rosy-cheeked fans moved in gaggles, bouncing to music from peers such as teenaged quartet Cherry Glazerr , moshing to rough-and-tumble rockers Pangea and huddling against walls to save enough energy to thrash later to Trash Talk and the Black Lips . Thanks to the setting — a maze of distressed, graffiti-stained, once-industrial buildings in the [...]

They will be joined at the top of the bill by the Drums, Black Lips, Free Energy and Kitten for the two-day event in downtown L.A. on June 7-8. The bulk of the lineup was announced last week — but a couple more acts are yet to be announced. Weekend passes are $50 and available here . Photo from Coachella by Scott Dudelson
The Jubilee Music & Arts Festival last week announced the lineup for its two-day event June 7-8 in downtown L.A., and since we're still in a festival kind of mood, we thought it'd be cool to give you a sample of the wares. So enjoy the 32-track mixtape we've compiled, above. Tickets are $50 for a weekend pass — and there are a still a couple of notable artists still to be added to the lineup.

The Jubilee Music & Arts Festival made it official tonight: The Drums, Black Lips, Free Energy and Kitten top the bill for the two-day event June 7-8. Promoters have extended the availability of pre-sale weekend passes, at $35 , until Thursday. Formerly known as the Silver Lake Jubilee, the festival this year has moved from the streets of that neighborhood to the Downtown Arts District, at 508 Santa Fe St. The Jubilee teased their lineup on Monday by leaking a not-so-hard-to-solve poster with the artists' names jumbled. In addition to the music [...]

In one of the more unusual stunts in the annals of festival promotion, the newly relocated and newly re-christened Jubilee Music & Arts Festival today leaked a flyer for its two-day event. Local blog The Scenestar published the big reveal, and you don't need an advanced degree in the Daily Jumble to figure it out: Brooklyn indie-rock band the Drums , Atlanta punk rockers Black Lips , and Pennsylvania neo-’70s rockers Free Energy head up the lineup for the June [...]

The Jubilee Music & Arts Festival, which launched in 2010 as the Silver Lake Jubilee, raised some eyebrows this week when it announced a pre-sale of a limited number of $35 tickets for the June 7-8 event without having announced the lineup. As we reported in November , the Jubilee has abandoned Silver Lake — where, as Sunset Junction found, mounting a street fair is an expensive proposition — in favor of the Downtown Arts District. The new location is 590 S. Santa Fe Ave., at 6th Street. All good, but now music consumers [...]
We're in dire need of a pick me up today, as the weekend is just about to roll through, and what better way to acheive this than by blasting this blistering Miami bass mixtape done for djz from the always on point Jubilee .
Jubilee will be making its return in 2013 for its fourth year and with a lot of big changes. Last year the festival dropped the Silver Lake part of its name, and for this years event organizers have decided to drop Silver Lake all together. The two day festival will be moving off the street and held in the Downtown Arts District on Friday June 7th and Saturday June 8th. Check out the photo below for a clue as to where the location is. It should look familiar to those of you that like going to Villains Tavern. [...]

If you haven't checked out Brooklyn bass sweetheart Jubilee, get it together. This Miami transplant has been running with the best of them for years. On the radio and behind the decks, she has made a name for in-your-face sets to crowds of Dj elite. Her show Fireworks airs on Brooklyn Radio along with Dj Ayres' The Rub. In the studio Jubilee is a blend of UK underground and trill South Florida flavor. Bringing nothing but twerk to the tables, during a Jubilee set, you have have no choice but to get down. Self proclaimed Miami bass chick, her [...]

For real though, can't get enough of the twerks coming out of these Brooklyn chicks lately. Label boss and radio shawty have been teaming up on some booty shaking tracks that could only be the product of Miami bass mixed with big Brooklyn beat. Star Eyes & Jubilee are doing it right and their big name producer friends will sure to check it. Have a listen with this dark dancefloor killer 'Merkwood Estates', a serious house full of grim bounce. Look for more from these ladies, they are obviously on the grind.
