Chicago - What better way to spice up the middle of a blah week than skip your night class and go to a concert? Who needs education anyway right? Wednesday was the eve of my dear friend's 30th birthday. She has this whole long list of things that she's not allowed to do after she turns 30 (eat PB&J, play drinking games, take shots for her age, wear glitter makeup, pretty much everything that makes life worth living) so I bought her some Wonderbread, some Smuckers, and some Jif and brought her to the House of Blues for a [...]

Shervin Lainez Who: Jukebox The Ghost What: Philly-based, fun-infused, power-pop trio whose last album was Everything Under The Sun . Oh Jukebox the Ghost , how many ways does DC love you? Enough to eschew our nerdy early-to-bed weekday habits and actually come out for a Thursday night show? Yes. Yes, JTG, for you we will come out in the hundreds to fill the venue in recognition of your graduation from the Black Cat (an equally awesome but undeniably smaller stage) to your first headlining show at the 9:30 Club on December 1st. Enough to forgive a totally debaucherous first song? Of course. Ben, when you realize your piano isn't actually plugged in after [...]

Photo by Kate Bracaglia Listen to this week's Key Studio Session and count the ways the guys in White Birds impressively play off one another. There's vibey ensemble moments: Mike Cammarata's minimal floor tom percussion provides the broken heartbeat to the tales of loss singer Jim Harvey spins thru a 602s pop loom ("Floating Hands"). Chris Radwinski's strolling bass line strikes a harmonic counterpoint to the scene in "Hondora." But the breezy Bucks County psych band also works at the simplest level: "No Sun" and "Veins Lined With Rust" [...]

New York three-piece Jukebox the Ghost has released a new music video for their track, "Half Crazy".

Indie-pop gurus Jukebox The Ghost recently concluded their tour of Europe and the UK, and are getting ready to play a string of shows in the Northeast before taking a break until January, when they'll play another slew of dates. Just today, they premiered an interesting video for the song "Half Crazy," from the band's [...]

Some folks have trouble getting out of bed and starting their day. In Jukebox the Ghost 's music video for "Half Crazy", guitarist/vocalist Tommy Siegel escapes the harsh reality of morning, thanks in part to his stop-motion life. As such, trivial tasks like brushing his teeth and walking down the street are made simple and easy. And though pianist/vocalist Ben Thornewill and drummer Jesse Kristin don't have the same luxury, they still manage some camera time with some comedic interactions. Watch it below. The band's sophomore album, Everything Under the [...]
