[...] [[ This is a content summary only.

Photo by G. Paul Banks of Interpol Great news for Interpol fans! Lead singer Paul Banks has announced plans for a new solo album in 2012. Details are TBD at the moment, including whether or not the album will be released under his alias Julian Plenti, so stay tuned! Thanks to Prefix for the tip! <!-- [...]

Banks' sophomore solo record is due out later this year.

Interpol released their self-titled fourth studio album back in September. It didn't receive nearly as much hype as the band's first three albums and it's singles didn't get much radio play. Although " Interpol" seemed to be a bit neglected, this album could definitely be one that gets looked back at as a hidden gem in the vast discography of alternative rock. For those of you who know Interpol, you know they're a band that shouldn't be taken lightly. They've been called the creators of a genre called "gloom rock", and their fourth studio album, a concept [...]

This song is off the lead singer of Interpol, Paul Banks' solo album under the pseudonym Julian Plenti. While it's hard to sound too different from Interpol with such a distinctive voice, Banks/Plenti has managed to create a funky tune part R&B, part rock.

I could see someone (not me) making the case for this song "falling back to the first record." The Dengler bass line is there, but that's really the only aspect making it sound like anything more than a Julian Plenti b-side. Interpol's self-titled fourth album is out September 14 via Matador . What do you guys think? Interpol - "Barricade"
If you've been reading the site for for any amount of time then you might've seen me mention The Delta Mirror on a few occasions, and on one of those occasions posting a few of their songs and a video . Well that was back in April and their album "Machines That Listen" is still one that I've had on repeat over the last few months, so when singer Craig sent me a couple of remixes (as well as that awesome cover art up there) from an upcoming, as yet untitled, remix album of "Machines That Listen" (due out [...]
![[Listen] – #MusicMonday – 20 Songs Of The Week – May 31st](http://cdn.elbo.ws/posts/2587414_lg.jpg)
If you're unaware of what Music Monday is, it's a Twitter recommendation system where users of Twitter share their favourite music, artists, genres, etc in order to not only find new music themselves but help others find new music too. Using the hashtag (#) followed by "MusicMonday" you can easily find new music posted by the thousands of people making recommendations each week. Every #MusicMonday I upload a playlist of 20 songs that I've been listening to (new and old) over the [...]

Interesting Hot Half Fact About Interpol: Interpol makes me feel extraordinarily hip. For me, Interpol is the only American band that makes me feel like taking suggestive black and white pictures, dress all in monochrome, chain smoke menthol cigarettes, and wear ridiculously large sunglasses. Usually, only French music makes me feel that way. [...]

Unless you live under a rock (no offense intended if you do ), you've heard that Arcade Fire has released two tracks from their upcoming third LP, The Suburbs . If you want more info on it, you can go here , but that's not what this post is about. Every music blogger in the blogosphere has already added his/her two cents on the strengths and weaknesses of the releases, so anything I add just retraces steps on well-trod ground. Although it's entirely possible that this pair of releases is unrepresentative of the full-length to [...]

Julian Plenti - Madrid Song I couldn't tell you anything you needed to know. I couldn't help you with the pressures of your exacting throes. Come have at us, we are strong. Come have at us, we are strong. Come have at us, we are strong. WE. Come have at us, we are strong. ARE. Come have at us, we are strong. STRONG. Come have at us, we are strong. The coiled cord was dangling, the phone was off the hook. [...]

Read a review of The Delta Mirror's debut album "Machines That Listen" and ten times out of ten you'll read about each of these nine songs taking place in nine different rooms of a hospital. It's true, they do, but it seems to be the focus of many-a-blog and the music escapes their insight. Craig Gordon and David Bolt (no relation to Usain, but they do look similar) started making music together as a hip-hop project last century and as The Delta Mirror recruited Karrie K on thunder-bass duties. It's a novel [...]
New music from Interpol After Paul Banks proved that he is a skyscraper , Interpol began working on their follow-up to 2007's Our Love to Admire . No word on what this long-player's title will be or when it will drop, but we now have our first sample. Above you can download "Lights", a new five and a half minute track, and hear it for yourself. And is it just me, or does their new band logo look like Metallica's ca 1996?
