We told you Interpol frontman Paul Banks grew a questionable bad teenage mustache (Carlos D envy?) and recorded a solo album as Julian Plenti. The reportedly "cocky" and "sexy" collection, titled Julian Plenti Is... Skyscraper is out this August via Matador. And hey, the dark, stuttering, and texturally ambitious electro-rocking lead track "Fun That We Have" is sorta cocky and sexy. Last week, you can imagine our excitement when we got word that Paul Banks of Interpol would be releasing a solo album, not under his name but as Julian Plenti. Not much else was known at the time, but now we can all hear his first single, "Fun That We Have" courtesy of Matador's Matablog . I don't think I've ever really been into Interpol . Turn on the Bright Lights was excellent in 2002, when the post-punk revival was in full swing – but the band hasn't ever seemed to move past that sound.
