~ Hollywood, Mon Amour Feat. Juliette Lewis - "This Is Not America" ~ Similar to Nouvelle Vague's take on classic 80s songs, Hollywood, Mon Amour breathes fresh life into this David Bowie song and turns it into a smooth, almost ambient ballad that sounds as old as it does new. ~ My Teenage Stride - "Theme From Teenage Suicide" ~ Indie pop with a late 70s/early 80s streak. Fun and kind of morbid at the same time thanks to these lyrical gems: "I'm a killer but I never started [...]

Aw I'm kinda sad Juliette Lewis just blogged on MySpace and Juliette and the Licks are no more :( but in better news she has a new band ' Juliette and the New Romantics ' it seems, she says she has a new band and a new record with a new sound! More details are coming in the next few weeks! So long to the Licks but at least Juliette is sticking around!
With a slumping economy it seems the onslaught of Christmas ads have come out in full force even earlier this year, reminding people to go out and buy stuff. The folks over at Gap are always good for simple yet interesting tv ads (see the Daft Punk ad from years back) but this new one featuring Flo-Rida's hit about girls of the night remixed to have a more family appeal (enter the Dixie Chicks ) and pimp jeans that aren't as apple bottomed. She acts, she sings and now she models. Juliette Lewis hit the catwalk in this flower power inspired outfit by Miss Bikini in Milan, Italy recently. She is definitely one busy bee. Is there anything that she can't do? Work the runway honey! Make love to the catwalk! And all those other model catchphrases. I like her like this, all clean and cute. But I also like her when she's all sweaty and grunge. She's like a chameleon. She can make herself look good in any way she wants too. Now that is a talent that's hard to come by.
She may be wacky but Juliette Lewis is unlike the other followers of Scientology. The actress/musician recently spoke about her chosen religion in a new interview with UK's Guardian. She says "Oh, I thought you were going to go into Scientology and Tom Cruise. Which I don't mind. I want you to know that he is not the representation of all things Scientology - I feel so bad for him, because that's the responsibility that's put on him." Juliette also talks about never hearing anything true about the religion from the media. She says that "it's just really practical, applied [...]
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v =VAeqP2asknk You may or may not have heard, but Drew Barrymore, Juliette Lewis, Eve, and Ellen Page are all in the Detroit area shooting a roller-derby inspired movie called Whip It! (they were spotted at a show by some band called Thunderbirds are Now! a few weeks ago, and also seen here making complete fucking fools of themselves at Jacoby's). Like most films, we're suspecting that there is going to be a soundtrack put together for the flick (think it'll feature the Devo song of the [...]

Strange Days - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Strange Days came out in October of 1995, made about five bucks and then vanished forever. It was directed by Kathryn Bigelow, ( Near Dark, Point Break ) and written by her ex-husband James Cameron (yea, that James Cameron - she's wife number three of five ). As much as I love Near Dark and Point Break I'd have to say that Strange Days is Bigelow's best film to date. I also think that it's the best thing Cameron's ever written as well, it's [...]
