Jump: Mexico [ Purchase ] This fantastic song by Jump (previously known as Jump Little Children) is less about Mexico as a country, and more about how far away Mexico is. The song is a beautiful tale about how the singer won't let his lady leave him again unless she goes far away to Mexico, because as long as she's closer she will just rebound back to him, so if she wants to go she better go far away and not come back to him again. Jump, Little Children : Angeldust (Please Come Down) [ purchase ] Jump, Little Children was an alt-rock band made up of students studying classical music at North Carolina's School of the Arts. They started by playing live traditional Irish music, then added a dash of Delta blues before switching (mostly) to their own stuff. The group's vocalist, Jay Clifford, wrote all of the songs on this, their sophomore release. Yes, his voice reaches some pretty high ranges, isn't that cool? Are you surprised, given my [...]
By Matt Jarrard My first exposure to Besides Daniel was through one of his very well done, very DIY, YouTube videos (like the one below). Something about Danny's videos set them apart from the umpteen other "boy singing indie cover song into camera" videos floating around out there. After seeing him live, and listening to [...]

I just saw a post dedicated to Jump Little Children over at I Guess I'm Floating , and it immediately brought me back. I was never really into the band, but this song "Cathedrals" always held a special place in my heart... until I forgot about it (I blame it on poor iTunes organization). The song is absolutely beautiful, from the haunting melodies to the high flying orchestration. I'm glad I rediscovered this one. Jump Little Children - Cathedrals PigeonsandPlanes
As I battle onward through my last finals week, I haven't been able to spend much time delving into all the new tunes deserving of an honest ear. However, that doesn't mean I've been completely ignoring my iTunes library in favor for boring texts and standardized tests. I've actually been wandering around the cavernous depths of my music collection like an aurally enthusiastic William Clark - except I have a firm grasp on my grammar . Good thing too, for it's brought me back to Jump, Little Children - a band I've [...]
You are permitted to display your shock. But I am very fond of this song and I found it while sifting through my archives this week. The video is from a concert DVD. Last night I was testing out my new/old headphones remembering how great they are and I just quietly listened to this song, enthralled and mesmerized, staring at my cat or a spot on the wall. It's a punchy, verging-on-recruiting-fans-of- Dave-Matthews pop song, but I looooooove it. Here's the track too. I fear these guys have also broken up and won't mind if I put this up: [...]

From one of my favorite regions in Canada - Way to Go Einstein hails from Vancouver, British Columbia and we apparently enjoy saying their name so much as it doubles as a nice age-old method to convey epic failure to someone. On the flipside of the meaning, Einstein has a successful sound that jumps a lot of musical pandoric trees ala Sigur Rós, Jump Little Children, Coldplay, and seems to have a slight shoegaze element that you'd possibly find layered in an Ulrich Schnauss collaboration. While navigating this musical obstacle course, they still remain grounded [...]
Over the course of this week and last I have been in transit, moving from one house to another while staying at a friend's in the interim. Luckily this in limbo-without-internet frenzy will be coming to a close next weekend when I finally move into my new place, until then it's been a race with transcontinental Connor to see who can sustain and capitalize on a WiFi connection the fastest. After class today I am going to the library with a flash drive and some new tunes.. [MP3] Jump, Little Children - Not [...]
Jump, Little Children - Body Parts This sadly now-defunct Charleston, SC lush pop group had some interesting twists hidden up their sleeves, whether it was Ward's cello, or four-handed guitar solos, or any of the interesting vestiges of their origins as a Celtic group (accordion, tin whistle). Matthew Bivins was, and likely still is, his own interesting twist. He initially presents as a vaugely nerdy, effete guy with eyeliner and a pink electric ukulele (he also holds down accordion and tin whistle). And then he does his spoken word thing, and the whole outfit goes slow-burning [...]

That Zach Braff fella sure is lazy. After signing on to direct the video for Jay Clifford , former frontman of Carolina natives Jump (Little Children) , Braff has passed off directing duties to you. By you, I mean the people who choose to take part of Braff's little experiment. Here's the scoop: Braff and Clifford set up this web-site . At this web-site you can download a ZIP file that includes the MP3 of the song Know When to Walk Away from Jay's [...]
Do you remember the first time you heard that incredible song? You played it to the point of redundancy and still managed to enjoy it every subsequent listen. Then you get older and your ears get more selective, you move onto more great songs. After time and upon nearly forgetting the track all-together, you hear it again and go through an entire renaissance with your track all over again. 1. The Cairo Gang - Warning - The smooth sounds of the gang remind me of a slightly more lo-fi American Analog Set, the soundtrack to the 1960 home movie your parents made while driving to California. Grainy film, top-down, an endless expanse of road. [from s/t | buy ] 2. Jump, Little Children - Broken - I've been a big fan of JLC's pop stylings for a few years, but I'd never heard this tune until last week on Cable and Tweed [...]
