That right there's the sentiment expressed as Nina peaks with the sort of riveting chorus Prince has tried and failed to come out with for decades now, though the overriding sensation to be derived from this chugging spoken word oeuvre from Neneh Cherry and Nathaniel Hall (better known as insurgent Brooklynite Afrika Baby Bam ) is one of snug collaboration. The Jungle Brother brings a sagacious world-weariness to the piece – one incidentally pieced together by none other than Kieran Hebden – as he eulogises the recurrent greatness of life. "It always keeps me smiling" he assures in a gravelled tone [...]

Neneh Cherry and Afrika Baby Bam (Jungle Brothers) rhymes and Four Tet brings the beats. Pure groove heaven.
Neneh Cherry + Afrika Baby Bam: Nina (Produced by Four Tet ) - Stream
About 14 years ago, on opposite sides of the Atlantic, both Neneh Cherry and the Jungle Broters were doing way-out art-student things with rap music. And now Cherry and Afrika Baby Bam, one half of the Jungle Brothers, have fused their two aesthetics together, making a drifting, starry-eyed spoken-word duet called "Nina," one that could've easily come out all those years ago, except for one thing. This one has a rattling, undulating beat from Four Tet, who previously turned in a great remix of Cherry and the Thing's cover of Suicide's "Dream Baby Dream." Listen to "Nina" below. [...]

When my dusty digital fingers are not sifting through cover versions, you can usually find me dancing around like an idiot, with my dachshund, to the sound of bronze age acid house/house (circa '85-89), of which I'm a dyed in the smiley face T-shirt fanatic. So you what made my week? Stumbling across Adam Cruz & Eddie Nicholas ' brilliant and rather percussive, leftfield human beatbox and conga cover of acid house classic Time Marches On by Jungle Wonz (AKA house music godfather Marshall Jefferson with Harry [...]

New Order ’s ‘Blue Monday’ from1983, still the biggest selling 12” of all time, here’s the original video. Jungle Brothers [...]

Whilst we may known for our refined palette in underground disco and house and often only spotted ripping some muscle in the gym or spinning wax at da hottest clubz, once every so often (most Thursdays) we switch our dumb bells for an XXL Fubu vest (dress) and swing on down, John Wayne style to The Social , just off Oxford street for some beer, bitchezzz and...hip hop karaoke (observation only) It's pretty hit or miss, but the odd time they'll spin 30 minute intervals crammed with the finest old school 90s flavas! Great rolling vibes here from all the way back in 1980. This tune completely flopped due to the decline of disco's popularity but it hasn't been forgotten down here at the gym! It was sampled in 1988 by the Jungle Brothers in their poppin' throwdown 'Beyond this world' . Che' che' checkit aout! DOWLOAD
