Since we're already on the whole shoes kick this morning, let's stay on theme and spin Wale's "88," produced by Just Blaze. It's a radio rip for now so the sound quality isn't the best but Nice Kicks did a footwear breakdown of the lyrics since the song's loose theme is that it's a tribute to Michael Jeffrey Jordan. Yesterday, I did watch the video below that shoes Wale buying a crapload of Jordan IIIs - originally released in '88 - out of Flight Club and making comparisons between himself and MJ. Third [...]

Rap nerds can't resist Hip-Hop tales from the genre's elders. Hard Knock TV remains well aware of the trend and, for our amusement, brings us part two of Just Blaze's and Yung Guru's conversation ( check part one here ). The pair reminisce on the good 'ol days of Roc-a-fella. Yet the "Keep It Real Wednesdays" portion struck the biggest chord for me. Imagine getting your beats played in Bassline Studio's lounge in front of the whole team. Then picture yourself, Mr. Young Hot Shit, getting your hard worked hiked on with Dame Dash leading [...]

If there are two non-rapping but infinitely important people to Hip-Hop, they're Just Blaze and Young Guru. It's probably not a coincidence that they both trace their roots back to Roc-A-Fella and there's no shortage to the amount of wisdom they can share to the up-and-coming generations of the genre. Between Guru's college lectures and Just Blaze's interviews, they've recently been speaking out a lot and, in their latest foray for the cameras, they interview each other. One of the more interesting things discussed is the impact of EDM into Hip-Hop. Just Blaze tells Guru [...]

New York rapper Le1f was introduced to me today via a Gisele video that my friend gchatted me at work. I didn't know what to expect, except for the fact that the video wouldn't be safe for work. (Which turned out to be true....which is also why I included the video for you guys after the jump so you can also embarrass yourselves at work.) Anyway, as soon as I pressed play, I recognized that trap/rave sound that's blazing (pun intended: shout out to Just Blaze ) across the [...]

Red Bull Music Academy has been in full effect in New York City for a few weeks, supplying the town with a pretty incredible series of lectures, a free newspaper, and bonkers live music events (as well as free studio time and access to a grip of equipment to a legion of international artists). Last night, Manhattan's Roseland Ballroom played host to RBMA's Culture Clash, a sound clash event featuring three DJ crews (dancehall massives Federation Sound, dance music smorgasbord-ers Trouble & Bass, and tropical bass trailblazers Que Bajo?!) and two of the city's most famed hip-hop producers Just Blaze [...]

Just Blaze Interview: The Business of Beats by WSJ_Live Aspiring producers, kindly turn your attention to the video above. Production genius Justin Smith, also known as Just Blaze , is one of the most astute artists over the course of the past decade. Just Blaze is one of the most insightful personalities we have and whenever he has something to say, the people have to pay attention. In addition to his recent appearance [...]

The folks at Wall Street Journal caught up with super-producer Just Blaze to, among other things, discuss his collaborative track with Baauer and the business of beats. But the best part is that he doesn't merely talk about "Higher", because he completely re-creates the track on the spot. It's pretty awesome to hear how much work went into the cut and how it all came together. What I'm saying is you should free up 20 minutes, grab a snack, and watch the video below.

I think it's safe to say that the Harlem Shake phase is starting to die down. I have mixed feelings on this. Some of the videos are extremely creative, like Matt and Kim's edition, and some are just plain hilarious like the washing machine edition . This chapter in our culture's life seems to be closing, so shed a tear, throw a party, deal with it however you see fit. Anyways, the top-tier music producer Just Blaze and Baauer were recently on tour together. Back in late January, the two released [...]

This collaboration was posted on every blog out there when it dropped a couple of months ago, just before "Harlem Shake" went viral and Baauer 's career changed forever. Actually, change that "forever" to "for now" because I guarantee you no one's going to remember that shit a year or two from now. So all of you so worried about Baauer 's future career forever being doomed as a "meme-producer", whatever that is, I wouldn't worry too much. He can do anything he wants with this new found fame. You should be happy for him. [...]
