Two years after the release of their noteworthy LP Konkylie, there seems to be some serious anticipation for Copenhagen quartet When Saints Go Machine’s followup, Infini ty Pool, out May 28th via !K7. "Iodine," the second track taken ... read more

“My Way” (featuring Joe Dukie of Fat Freddies Drop) is the 2nd official single from Close’s debut album Getting Closer . “For me Joe Dukie has one of the best voices on the planet so it was a bit of dream come true to get to work with him. I worked with Fink in his studio in Brighton where we recorded his band (drummer and bass player) - the instrumental is all live and one take. We then sent this over to Dallas (Joe Dukie) and he sent back his vocals. [...]

When Saints Go Machine - Love and Respect ft. Killer Mike (Unkwon Remix)
A never-ending source of infinite hope and optimism for the year ahead comes in the sure to be beguiling release of When Saints Go Machine's forthcoming third full-length Infinity Pool , which grows forever more imminent. It's expected to ooze into being in a couple weeks' time and although we've already heard opener Love And Respect , here quickening its pace and so too slicking its latent house aesthetic into something all the more discernible are Ohio duo Teengirl Fantasy who've a consummately mechanical redux to bestow upon us. Featuring snaps of Killer Mike's doughy vocal scattered among [...]
The first DJ-Kicks mix of 2013 comes from other than Maceo Plex , who has included some extremely rare and classic releases. After more than 3 months of research and music selection, Maceo Plex’s mix for the series is now ready for your listening pleasure, and let me be the first to tell you that it was well worth the wait. Maceo’s DJ-Kicks mix is a fantastic amalgamation of both the future and the past, full of rare, old school house tracks that you won’t find anywhere else, especially online. Maceo has included 10 re-edits [...]

Maceo Plex joins the eclectic ranks of DJs and producers on the !K7 roster for the first DJ Kicks mix of 2013. This comes off the back of a stellar year for the american who has seen releases on the likes of Crosstown Rebels, Hot Waves and of course his own Ellum Audio to name but a few. Maceo Plex has stated that the aim of this mix is to highlight the sounds that represent the future. Ironically he turned to vinyl, the format of the past [...]
We seem to be referencing the ever diminishing disparity between organic and electronic musics with increasing frequency, so sincerest apologies if you've read, and subsequently had enough of all that. I'm only too aware of the fact that it's been heavily suffused throughout our extensive recent coverage of Brad Weber's Pick a Piper project, and indeed our effusive praise of James Cooley's Mesita but it makes for an exciting time for the sounds of the experimental and avant-garde realms. And although Bristolian composer Zoon van snooK is, by his own admission, a self-professed practitioner [...]

When Saints Go Machine go for second album. Copenhagen four-piece When Saints Go Machine are back with their sophomore album, Infinity Pool. Born through chaos, the new album is promised to be harder,...
Boundary-obliterating Copenhagen quirk-pop ensemble When Saints Go Machine are, to my ears if no others, just about the most invigorating avant-garde outfit out there. I mean people claim creationism to be dead and buried, and for genuine originality to be a thing of the past though honestly? Nobody operating contemporarily sounds a fucking thing like Nikolaj Manuel Vonsild's ceaselessly inspirational, and continually indescribable four-piece. Singularity is of course one thing, though when it's so frequently purveyed with such unerring sublimity, well, for fear of drifting off into an intensely exaggerated land of no return, I'll stop short of proclaiming [...]

Tosca - Bonjour The new Tosca album is called Odeon because it was, if I understand correctly, recorded in Vienna’s Odeon theatre. (No, I probably don’t understand that correctly. But it has to have something to do with it.) During last year’s Waves Vienna, it was used as one of the festival locations. I still remember the very atmospheric Dillon gig. Bonus points for the song called “In My Brain Prinz Eugen”.
Vienna's Tosca get deep, dark and downtempo on their new album, 'Odeon.'

Tosca , the Austrian duo composed of Richard Dorfmeister (of Kruder & Dorfmeister fame) and Rupert Huber, have been making beautiful music together for two decades. Friends since childhood and known globally for their exploits investigating the beautiful depths of ambient and downtempo music, their sixth album, Odeon ( read our review here ), finds the pair's sonic proclivities veering into a captivatingly dark place. Featuring guests including Sarah Callier ( download "What If" here ) and J.J. Jones (watch the video for "Jay Jay" below), Odeon was born out of a musical relationship that's as solid [...]
The weekend is finally here and one of the best French electro/nu-disco blogs on the internet just released a brand new mix tape featuring a lot of the same music you might find here on Disco Filter. Paris-based Touchez Français is definitely worth following on Soundcloud and Facebook for their great recommendations. Jam on this mix if you don't believe me. Free download too!

★★★★☆ Vienna’s Richard Dorfmeister and Rupert Huber have long been vaunted for classically chilled electronica and jazz brewed richness and riches. With an individual, rule-loosening edge that probably puts them in the maverick category, their admission that they’ve “always had a darker, ambient side” has Odeon waiting for nightfall in order to nurture an interruptive rebelliousness. Kinking the suave sophisticates this time around are the brasher disregards of the rockier "Heatwave" heading out on an archetypal desert road trip, mild hallucinations followed by a blackness developing a stronghold on the sub-goth summons [...]
German trio tease us with new track featuring Jamie Lidell.
