One of my all time favorite songs, is Cherrelle ft. Alexander O'Neal - "Saturday Love" (I mean, I even named my soul/disco/boogie blog that!). It came out in 1985, and was produced by one of my favorite production duos: Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis . When I saw that Toro Y Moi's new song was called "Saturday Love", it didn't cross my mind that he would actually cover the original, just thought it had the same song title, so I was surprised to hear him take that 80s R&B hit to fit [...]

Toro Y Moi has announced his latest EP, Freaking Out, which is currently being scheduled for a September 13th. The first time I saw Toro Y Moi he was promoting Causers of This, and it was just him, Chaz solo at the Brooklyn Bowl. I liked the record but I was bored by the show, if only because opening band the Ruby Suns got everybody stoked with their polyrhythmic grooves and come on, I don't care if you're Billy Bragg, it's hard for one man to follow a full band.
