It's Alive At approximately 8am on April 18, Karnivool released the teaser for their upcoming, and yet untitled, new DVD. The film will feature footage shot from all around the world including their live shows and insider behind-the-scenes clips of their travels across the last five years. Currently, the DVD is in post-production and the band is editing the film themselves. However, there is no indication of the exact date for when this DVD will release. Instead, the Vool HQ said, "Fans will be able to see the fruits of their labours (Karnivool DVD) in the [...]
So yeah. No sleep till Mood-I. Let's not bother with a long-winded beginning. Karnivool were amazing. They played a set that would warrant inclusion among the year's best. If it wasn't for them, there would have been death at IIT-B's SEC. Allow me to elaborate. The Three Livewire Finalists There's a part of me that really wants to do a set-by-set review of what these bands played. And it's the same part that would endeavor to run a metal archives-esque Orkutcore repository. I'm aware that these bands are both young and impressionable, [...]

I know I'm not speaking singularly when I say that MetalSucks loves Karnivool. Those aussies just got it goin' on, no doubt about it, and while we like their records Karnivool are really best experienced in the live sphere. Total pros, tight as a virgin, and they always sound spectacular. So when reader Tom Rae [...]

As the city of angels is in dire need of exceptional hard rock/progressive metal bands, Karnivool (all the way from Perth, Australia) rescues us for one night at the tiny Troubadour. As I learned by talking to others before the doors opened, Karnivool has played here before and many were returning for more. I felt I was in on a big secret. Having only heard a couple tracks, I was highly intrigued for the live gig. With 3 bands performing before them (Cage 9, Tides of Man, KYNG), Karnivool took the stage to a crowd that [...]

[Birthday greetings go out today to old pal Don Was. Here's your Monday menu:] Tonight's top 4 week-starters: ☛ L.A. lost an indie-pop contender last fall when You Me & Iowa decided to call it quits , but from the ashes of that quintet has sprung the Lonely Wild [pictured], a new project from YM&I's Andrew Carroll and Ryan Ross. Teaming up with Edward Cerecedes, Andrew Schneider and Jenn Talesfore, Carroll and Ross are exploring spaghetti Western-flavored folk-pop — think Spindrift and Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic [...]
This is my hometown of Perth. On the odd chance that you've heard of it, it's probably as the home of Bon Scott, Sam Worthington (actually, both went to my high school), or (eeeeeew) Pendulum. As you can see from the above diagram, it's pretty far away from anything that isn't the Indian Ocean. In [...]
Tool meets Silverchair fronted by a Gavin Rossdale / Praying Mantis hybrid. That is our summation of Karnivool and we approve. They opened the stage for Iron Maiden and they're Australian. Those are just facts. Click here to see the rest of our coverage of Sonisphere Festival 2010.

After 6 nights of non-stop boozing my body was starting to tell me it was time to take a break. When I woke up Thursday morning I was tired and cranky. The first night of SXSW - or any gathering large or small, for that matter - is always a rager, right? Everyone's so excited [...]
