Chicago singer/songwriter Tim Lowly is an interesting story. Seems he's been kicking around the scene since the 70's (Yes, the 70's. The decade your parents were your age most likely). But it wasn't until recently that he really started to become active again. Well, lucky you then. His minimalist folk sounds more at home now than at any other time which might explain his recent [...]
New Music Qucikly Examined Kaspar Hauser, The Sons - For years we've been diggin on the folk-rock sounds of Kaspar Hauser. A few months back we got to listen to the rough cuts and liked. The polished stuff is top-notch....

Local Band We Enjoy Kaspar Hauser recently sent us the rough mixes to their latest album The Sons reminding us how much we dig thier Chicago blues-rock stylings. And we're lucky enough to be able to pass along some of...

Kaspar Hauser is a cool band name. And thankfully, it's just a band name. The nom de plume of Chicago, IL native Thomas Comerford (a much better, more normal name), KH has, over the last half-decade or so, been self-releasing material that mixes completely unequal parts Petty, Reed and Tweedy, which, if you follow that train of thought, has bred the kind of jangly folk pop that only geneticists can properly prepare for. The latest from the group, this year's pretty much stellar all around Quixotic/Taxidermy , finds Comerford crafting swagger-filled vignettes and [...]

Thomas Comerford started " Kaspar Hauser " in 1999. Eight years later and he is finding himself playing a show with none other than Jim Fairchild who is "All Smiles". Recently, the post I wrote about All Smiles seemed to be a big hit. So when I heard from Thomas I thought I should check him out and see if he was "Bring Me Up" material. After research and listening I realized why Jim is playing a show with him. Kaspar Hauser has the same laid back western feel to his music but he adds in some hand [...]
Kaspar Hauser was discovered in 1828, walking down the road in Nuremberg, Germany. Kaspar was oddly dressed and unsteady on his feet, with a strange letter in his pocket and the phrase 'I want to be a horseman like my father is' on his lips. Although about 16 years old, he behaved like a small child. When eventually he could talk, he explained that he had been confined in a small cell into which food and insufficient water — he was always thirsty — were placed while he slept. He was thought to be royally linked to the House [...]

Kaspar Hauser knows that you really can't go wrong when you set the 66-key Casio to "Harpsichord," add a good measure of some hand claps, sing about trading "your kingdom for a song," and top it all off with repeating falsettos and a harmonica at the end. It's a recipe for success every time. You try. Kaspar Hauser - King Pop (mp3) It's also hard to go wrong when you're a North London trio like Fatels , pleasing [...]

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Outspoken U.S. conservative columnist Ann Coulter is drawing fire from Republicans and Democrats alike after publicly using a derogatory gay slur in reference to Democratic presidential hopeful John Edwards. "Ann Coulter not only once again went out of her way to use a nasty epithet, she pushed her offensiveness up a notch," Amy Ridenour, president of the National Center for Public Policy Research, said on Sunday. Coulter made the comments on Friday during a speech at the influential American Conservative Union's Political Action Conference, calling Edwards a [...]
