"It's fun to put in the odd moment of vocal insanity." I can't say I've ever easily pinned down who Kate Miller-Heidke is. Her demeanour suggests coy, gentle lady of the house, ready to throw a tea party. Some video clips, like Can't Shake It, reveal her as a Gwen Stefani hopeful, teetering towards hysteria with colour changing black head remover still in place. And when I speak with Kate I feel I could just as easily be sharing a pint with an old uni friend. Despite her approachable down-to-earth friendliness, Kate has good [...]

At heart, I am a pop music lover. Sure, the pop music I listen to maybe be just a little left of center, and a bit sad times, but it's basically the same formula - 4 minute songs where boys sing about girls, or vice versa...verse, chorus, verse...that sort of thing. So I am not really sure if the term "guilty pleasure" fits when I am talking about Kate Miller-Heidke or not. But I know that I am liking her music and it makes me feel a little weird. It's just not the sort of thing I usually [...]

Just came across the EMPIRE OF THE SUN track WALKING ON A DREAM covered by KATE MILLER-HEIDKE . I do prefer the original, but this cover is a whole new interpretation of the track that makes the song a little deeper and maybe even a little darker. I do enjoy this version as well, what do you all think? MP3 [...]

According to Videogum, this is The World's First Actually Funny Song About Facebook . I am in complete and total agreement, and just had to walk outside the office to hide an uncontrollable fit of laughter. Which is weird, cause everyone here should get it, cause we're like, a social media department. But tears, guys. I had tears. Love it: Thank you Kate Miller-Heidke , for ruling so hard. [...]

Kate Miller-Heidke - 'Walking On A Dream' cover ( mp3 ) I've never been sure about Kate MH's album or image. She comes across as a sweet natured girl in interviews with a genuine vocal talents good enough to do opera, definitely sufficient for pop. Yet the way she's been presented in her own publicity seems slightly contrived, and unfortunately this cover version isn't helping. I was intrigued when I received this, thinking that she would add her own pop flavour to the track and give herself a chance to change people's minds, but what she ended [...]

A few months back we talked about Kate Miller-Heidke and her track Can't Shake It , now we have another for you! This song is titled The One Thing I Know and is pretty cute just like Kate in the photo above! Check Out Kate Miller-Heidke on MySpace by Clicking Here! [...]
There were some albums that just didn't quite do it for us as a whole, but maybe they had that one really good song that we played on repeat. Here are (lucky number) 13 songs that we think deserve Honorary Mentions for 2008 (again in no particular order). Polite Dance Song [mp3] - The Bird & The Bee (iTunes) We couldn't stop blasting it everywhere, and although it technically debuted at the end

I forgot to mention that these top songs are still very personal opinions despite trying to take as many suggestions of the rest of the writers. I'm not sure how people will respond to the list, numbering isn't quite as important as inclusion . I like taking suggestions as there will be millions of tracks I likely missed. As is the goal with this list, 10-limit descriptions included. Previously: #76-100 Numbers #51-75: #51 Creator by Santogold w/ Switch and Freq Nasty ( myspace / video -unofficial was [...]

Kate Miller-Heidke is from Brisbane, Australia, the second consecutive Australian singer-songwriter that I'm reviewing. Miller-Heidke is not really take the rest of the world by storm but more or less concentrating on her home country unlike Lenka , despite both being on Sony BMG. Miller-Heidke got my attention with her track Can't Shake It (video below) which is a dance pop track that works on many levels while Miller-Heidke brings out her own style to it (specifically a unique Australian accent to it). It's great that way, it's a type of a voice that many might [...]

Kate Miller-Heidke - I Like You Better When You're Not Around "Please don't take it to heart" One week left until I get into the 2008 year-end lists! But until then I've got five fantastic songs to share. First up is Kate Miller-Heidke. I posted a song from her first album a long while ago, and I'm a little late getting into her second release. Can't Shake It was a [...]
Kate Miller-Heidke is an Australian singer-songwriter who is well trained in Opera but has now crossed over to pop songs. Her second album, Curiouser, was released in October and has become quite successful with its bumps and flares spouting from each and every which way. Her songs are catchy, quirky and humorously honest- in "Can't Shake it" Kate laments, "I execute the moonwalk like I stepped
Kate Miller-Heidke "Can't Shake It" There are so many songs that encourage people to dance, or go on about how totally awesome dancing is, and relatively few that express a powerful nervousness about dancing, and feeling horrible about one's inability to loosen up and move in a way that is not thoroughly embarrassing. This is particularly odd given just how many people feel awful about their body, or have no idea what to do with themselves when confronted with loud, beat-centric music. If you fall into that category, Kate Miller-Heidke feels your pain, and she's singing [...]

Australian artist Kate Miller-Heidke released her latest album Curiouser not too long ago on Oct. 16th and Can't Shake It is her 1st single and I'm lovin' it! Not only is the song good, but the video is pretty catchy too. You can check that out at the bottom of this post and check out Kate Miller-Heidke on Myspace by Clicking [...]
The music of Aussie opera/folk/rock star Kate Miller-Heidke is as colorful and bright as it is playful and strange. A trained opera singer with an accolade of countless awards, Miller-Heidke found the world of pop music to her liking and in the course of just a few years, has a released a string of EPs and most recently, her full-length debut, showcasing how unique her music truly is. At the turn of the century, Miller-Heidke joined Elsewhere, a band of musicians based in Brisbane, Australia and recorded with them while still maintaining a solo [...]
