With my wisdom teeth out I've pretty much been sitting around and watching episodes of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations because there is no better show on TV. For a while now I realize I've been listening to musicians whose songs/remixes tend to peak out at over 6 or 7 minutes, which is nice when you want to just relax for an hour, but lately I'm burning out on long songs. Belgium duo Aeroplane has been a staple for me and it's easy to see why artists like A-Trak called Aeroplane "the next big dance band to [...]

Visti & Meyland - Yes Maam (All Nite Long) (ysi) [...]

download all the pretty songs in a zip file: A.M. 180: top 30 tracks of 2008 get them while they're hot (or, you know, before they get deleted) **** 30 Jeremy Jay - "Beautiful Rebel" And so my list begins with a sigh. "Beautiful Rebel" is ghostly and reverent, and I love how important the actual words sound, like an incantation, or a [...]

Milwaukee: home to Prince Fielder, Miller Brewing... and one of the best electro-funk singles of the year.

Maurice Fulton , I had no idea how many projects this guy is involved in. On top of the gazillion remixes (The Rapture, Annie, Hot Chip, etc...) he has done, and solo projects, he is also produced his wife's music project Mu (remember the track Paris Hilton ?) and some of !!!'s early tracks and plays with his ba nd, Syclops on Kathy Diamond 's ridiculously awesome debut, Miss Diamond To You, and he has now just released my current obsession, the new full length from Syclops on none [...]

Here's a weekend jam for you, courtesy of Kathy Diamond 's new LP, Miss Diamond To You . I can't seem to get enough of this one; not sure if it's Maurice Fulton 's incredible "future-soul" electro-house production, or Miss Diamond's pitch-perfect disco vocals, but I love this song a lot: mp3: Kathy Diamond Over Actually, most of Miss Diamond To You is pretty great, you should pick it up . Check [...]

<img src=" http://img460.imageshack.us/im g460/7100/1089335011mpd4.jpg" alt="Kathy Diamond" I happened upon Kathy Diamond's album "Miss Diamond to You" this afternoon at Emusic and it has proven a treat; her retro-futuristic disco created by House Producer Maurice Fulton . Kathy arguably isn't the strongest singer, her voice often lost against the thick, almost dubby music that Fulton cooks up and it's this excellent production that's the real draw for me: The mid-section of All Woman where the synth untangles out into a extended breakdown, the psyched-out organ solo on "Over" or the percussion heavy opening [...]
UGK featuring Outkast "International Players' Anthem" - Andre 3000's verse on "International Players' Anthem" may not be the very best of his recent flurry of guest appearances, but it is the one attached to a song that doesn't totally fall apart immediately after he disappears. (In fairness, the remix of Lloyd's "You" also features a strong verse by Nas, but the pleasant lite R&B tune with the super-obvious Spandeau Balet sample separating their verses makes it feel as though you're being put on hold between rhymes.) It certainly helps [...]
Photo by David Greenwald Kathy Diamond makes intelligent dance music. I don't mean IDM. I mean dance music that is actually enjoyable to nerdy, awkward non-drug users. But that's not fair -- drug users and people who aren't awkward will like this too. Miss Diamond To You , out (as far as I can tell) later this year, is a disco record for people who don't like disco, an electronic record for people who don't like electronic music and an upbeat record for people who usually like sad acoustic folk [...]

If things seem a little quieter than usual here at 'the horse' it's because we are have a 'man down', jez currently on a sabbatical, hopefully not permanently has left a trainspotter/font of all musical knowledge shaped hole, that is pretty hard to disguise. Something for the weekend was jez's idea (trying to get us less 'jazzy' with our postings) so it seems fitting to dedicate this one to him. It's a maurice fulton production (which is pretty much all you need to know) and whilst never quite reaching the heights of [...]
