Artist: Kavinsky

Whether you loved or hated Drive , Kavinsky had everyone's attention with "Nightcall." Since then, he's inspired some quality remixes and sampling (see: The Hood Internet's Wale and Kavinsky mash-up and Lupe Fiasco's " American Terrorist III "). The Parisian will be releasing a new album later this year, and as a look into what to expect, here's "RoadGame." It's an ambitious, ominous track, but Kavinsky's tight orchestration points to a promising debut album. ( Hypetrak )

I don't know much about Kavinsky but this is the second track I've heard from him and it's just as sick as the track off the Drive soundtrack. I would have sworn the music from that movie was all retro-802s joints, but apparently the director and whoever helped with the music just has an incredible ear for modern day tunes with the throwback vibe. For the past 11 years, French house producer Kavinsky has been issuing EPs, remixing artists, and scoring films. His recent work (see: "Nightcall" ) for Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive - hands down the best picture of 2011, despite what the Academy thinks - has turned countless heads and brought him long-deserved acclaim. Most well-known for creating the theme song to last year's most successful porno ( Drive , obviously), Kavinsky is following up his major hit 'Nightcall' with a new album due out later this year. I'm don't know how the world will feel about Kavinsky tracks not backed by Ryan Gosling's long and tortured sex stares , but I'm sure 2012 is going to be a huge year for the Daft Punk-esque artist all the same. Hello there You know I'm not really into the whole "1 track per post" thing but THIS deserves a post on its own. It's the track Kavinsky released for the release of Drive's Bluray/DVD (Brilliant movie btw, watch it).
