This week's QOTW asks which horny songs get u horny!
Ahhh, sorry bros ... no new musics today ... PSYCHE! I totally had you going there for sec! You were getting all torn up inside thinking about a sad, sad Tuesday without good ol' Shanny's wussy recs and off-base comparisons. Well, fret not amigo! Read the colorful bevy of tech-death, synth-rock, and nerderific thrash-prog that [...]

photos by Greg Cristman Toby Driver of Vaura/Kayo Dot WIERD will host a special Vaura appearance at their weekly party at Home Sweet Home tonight (7/25) (131 Chrystie St in Manhattan). The band will strip down to play a rare "acoustic variations" set at the venue, which will see the band unplug for the second time in their history (the first being at The Stone earlier this year ). [...]

by BBG Seattle doom crew Samothrace 's last LP was nothing short of amazing, and now the band is perparing their new LP for release on 20 Buck Spin. Look for Reverence to Stone on July 31st via the label, and check out the art above. Xibalba 's last LP ( that we streamed in full ) was the kind of raw-beatdown style hardcore that I could get with. Primal, thick [...]
It's really no surprise these days when I hear a musician is working on something new to keep the creative juice flowing, but in the case of Kevin Hufnagel, the man just never seems to stop. With various ukelele exhibits popping up around NY and the internet, a recently released solo record, his continuous work ...
The incongruous, sometimes wacky metal-jazz fusion of Kayo Dot is back with the Boston band’s latest release. Gamma Knife is available digitally now on Kayo Dot’s Bandcamp page and will see a vinyl release in April of 2012 just ahead of a United States tour set to commence in May. Toby Driver (guitar, vocals, keys, bass guitar) has perhaps been the only constant in this experimental outfit. He

Toby Driver with Vaura ( more by BBG ) Kayo Dot has some upcoming appearances scheduled including opening for Secret Chiefs 3 on two of their upcoming dates . One of those dates is in NYC at Le Poisson Rouge on September 13 . Tickets are still on sale. Toby Driver and co also have another local date scheduled, and its an interesting one... We have a very special concert lined up on October 5, [...]
Trust us when we say that countless otherwise sage people have sacrificed years of their lives trying to accurately summarize the music of Kayo Dot. Singer, composer and chief conceptualist Toby Driver once allied himself with doom metal’s experimental wing. But over the course of three extraordinary studio albums made with ever-shifting lineups, Kayo Dot has become a protean entity that draws
Having rested from their jaunt last fall, Idaho drone-doom duo Wolvserpent are going back out on the road in the next couple weeks. They'll be touring in support once again for their under-recognized but still-killer 20 Buck Spin release Blood Seed. Joining them for the tour are Seattle's A Story of Rats. Along the way, Wolvserpent will play with a great assortment of bands such as fellow

I've been a Kayo Dot fan for a couple years ago, hearing Dowsing Anemone With Copper Tongue first, which took me to another universe the first time I heard it. Then I fell in love with Choirs of the Eye , which also blew me away. Unfortunately, Kayo Dot's following two albums were too experimental for me, and well, many moments on the album just sounded like unorganized noise. Kayo Dot's newest release, however, is a huge step in the right direction. The first time I heard the [...]
by ill? ya! (NYC) Unholy shit! Apparently the spring thaw brings sunshine, warmer weather and a fuck-load of hate and darkness. March is bloated with shows, so choose carefully (and stock up on earplugs). This week, I assume most of you will steer clear of ol' Dani Filth. Oh, Nachtmystium are on that bill? Good for them. Instead, catch the old-school death/thrash of Master and the unfuckwithable

Esta lista dos discos que mais gostei de ouvir ao longo de 2010 é constituída com base na minha (fraca) memória, ou seja, daqui a 2 horas, provavelmente seria completamente diferente… Kayo Dot – Coyote Neil Young – Le Noise Faust – Faust Is Last Ali Farka Touré & Toumani Diabaté – Ali and Toumani Wyatt Atzmon Stephen - For The Ghosts Within Scout Niblett - The Calcination of Scout Niblett Land Of Kush – Monogamy Paus – É uma água The Black Angels - Phosphene Dream Linda Martini - Casa Ocupada

Far back on a rocky crag amid black twisted boughs of thorny pine and gnarled oak, a chapel lies discarded. Wind creaks around shutters, clattering them against the livid daggers of once-windows. The forest crowds in close to rake its narrow fingers over buttresses and dismembered statuary. These sounds make up an inhospitable dull roar that submerges any footsteps climbing the walk outside. Inside, however, there is an unearthly stillness in which each glittering drop of water slipping from the...
by ill? ya! (NYC) Highest on my list this week are the two Monarch!/Bloody Panda shows. Monarch! - from France - play dark, ritualistic funeral doom. Bloody Panda are similar in style, but throw in an unsettling layer of chanting/shrieking in Japanese, courtesy of Yoshiko Ohara, sometimes also backed by throat singing. Their shows come close to a religious experience - don't miss it! Saturday
Record Store Day, an annual day each when record stores offer up all sort of weird and cool limited releases, takes place on November 26 this year, and Kayo Dot will be putting out a singular song EP on the date entitled Stained Glass . We're not sure how this version will differ from the worldwide release version of the EP, which arrives on January 11. In addition to the record, check out the band's tour dates (posted after the jump). Kayo Dot tour dates: 11/08 Montreal, QC [...]
Hydrahead's twitter account is explosive right now. In the last two hours they have dropped some serious news, most importantly: Pyramids are doing a 7" with Horseback (with seems to mean WITH here too, not just a split). This is a 'dream come true' type of record for us, hype we must. Andy has been stalking R. Loren's melodic noise lately, Van forced us all to love Horseback's fuzzed out
