The NC by way of Cincinnati emcee Fluent drops "Wild & Free," the first leak off his forthcoming lp, Retro Future. This Khrysis produced single features verses from the Justus League affiliate Median & KAZE a/k/a 4 Letters. Light on features, the album includes a guest feature from El da Sensei and boasts production from both Khrysis and The Returners. Retro Future is just one of two projects that Fluent will drop this year, the follow-up being a full length produced entirely by heavyweight beatsmith J. Cardim (Lil Wayne, Akon, Wale, Talib Kweli).
It's an all-North Carolina-everything affair on this new single from Cincinnati native Fluent. The up-and-coming spitter is joined on "Wild and Free" by Tarheel State stalwarts Median and KAZE on the mic while Khrysis mans the boards. The end result is a laid-back, '90s-referencing burner emphasizing the three MCs' lyrics. Hopefully we get to hear more from Fluent in the near future, because this is most certainly a great start. You can stream and download the track below.

With a recording history that takes him back to the early days of jungle and drum n bass, Lemon D has a discography to be proud of that takes in legendary imprints such as R&S and Metalheadz . In recent years however he's been missing from release schedules and DJ's playlists. He's certainly not been slacking though and has unveiled a change of name to K-AZE and a 30 minute sampler mix packed with new beats ranging across genres from 8-bit bleepyness to old skool house, grime, rnb and dubstep. Along with the Away Team , one of the standout performers during 9th Wonder's showcase at Hopscotch 2010 was tough-talker KAZE. Like his cohorts, he, too, hails from North Carolina and absolutely rips it live. But he's got a harder edge to his delivery and his raps, like the Away Team if they were a little more aggressive. And yesterday, KAZE dropped his new mixtape, Jersey in the Rafters , which showcases everything I just wrote about. Plus, dude's backed by production from Illmind , 9th Wonder , and Buckwild while Diamond D [...]

Summer parties call for a special kind of soundtrack. It's too hot to deal with switching songs all the time, and sometimes it's too hot to wear a full outfit, let alone dance, so you need something flexible, something you can play all the way through, something that will scratch the dance itch if the urge arises but that can also serve as a background track for nursing fruity cocktails on the beach or driving on the highway with the windows down. Let me introduce you to my soundtrack for the rest of Summer 2011: Juicy 's Sunrise [...]

Suicide Sundaes – stop your grinnin' and drop your linen. Every Sunday electblake of Earmilk will bring you the weeks dirty servings, and some old favorites through a throwdown-throwback to simpler times. A time when bangers were big, remixes were bigger, the bassline bled, and we didn't care about anything as long as came in kicking and left screaming. To hell with sketchy Sunday, we want to shove another dragon down the hole. This week features that trash I know so many of your crave, and still does not feature that supposed guest curator so many of you [...]

Genre: Old Time, Appalachian, Banjo This is some old timey appalachian banjo trippin folk music. Buell H. Kazee, together with Dock Boggs is not an unknown. At least if you are interested in such music or live in America. I am scratching just on the surface of old digitalized shellac records, because it's not part of my cultural history. But anyway, I just enjoy the repetitive, trance like banjo [ This is the summary, read the whole story on Website ]

Crazy how much this Angie Stone jam still gets remixed. It's like it's still a current track. Def a testament to how killer the groove is on the original. Spanish DJ Kaze takes his crack here and pretty much smashes it. The track goes heavier here but it absolutely works. Kaze combines not only those heavier floor-filling elements but also the glide of Angie's original track. The result is nothing short of a heater. Get into it below. Angie Stone - I Wish I Didn't Miss You (Kaze Remix) [...]
