The Sunshine Underground - Nobody's Coming To Save You This has been out for a while now, sorry for taking so long, I've been busy. I never bothered listening to these guys when they released their first album, 4 years ago, as I just wasn't interested. I still don't know why I bothered listening to this. Thankfully, I really enjoyed this album, there's a lot of moments where it sounds like The Enemy (a bad thing), but a lot of [...]

Everything about this song "Yellow Wings" by Keepaway , the band formerly known as "In" , screams pop perfection to me. The progression of the beat into the more organic instruments and the youthful lyrics just ease away stress. Based out of Brooklyn this band is turning heads. If you are a fan of Animal Collective or MGMT one listen and you'll be hooked. There isn't a lot of info on them out except they finished their EP titled "Babystyle" and you can read an interview they did [...]

(Four Tet, aka Kieran Hebden) So far, 2010 has been the year of the producer. Producers - bands that produce their own music (Yeasayer), bands taking over the boards for the first time (Spoon), longtime production geniuses (Four Tet) and young up and comers (Keepaway) - are the reason behind everything on my playlist right now. Here's a sampling of their best stuff: Yeasayer - I Remember - I have already raved about both [...]
Keepaway have been garnering a lot of online press lately and comparisons with Animal Collective have been plentiful. Normally this might put us off, but having given their EP Baby Style a chance, we're glad to report that (to these ears at least) we're not getting that at all.In fact, if anything, Yeasayer or even Modest Mouse might be a better comparison. But even this is a bit lazy, because

Keepaway är trion från den härliga delen Brooklyn, New York, USA. Den härliga delen där allt verkar hända i musikväg. Riktigt bra experimentell indie rock Mp3: Keepaway - Yellow Wings

02.02.2010 Indie fantastic. What are Yellow Wings anyway? The Urban dictionary tells me...oh. Oh my. Well that's just awful. Necro-what!? I've made a huge mistake. This has tainted my appreciation of this song. Keepaway - Yellow Wings
Monday: White Hills + Pontiak @ Cake Shop 8pm $7 [ info ] There are worse fates in life than to go underrated for most of your career, but when you have worked as hard and are as talented as these two bands that just shouldn't be the case. Yet for some reason both White Hills and Pontiak seem to fly way under the radar and that's probably why you can still see them at venues like Cake Shop. That may be good for music loving fanatics like you and me, but hopefully these [...]

Yeah, their sound totally bites Animal Collective's... but Keepaway's songs are tight and I've been listening to their self released Baby Style EP over and over the last few days. Here are a couple off that. Keepaway - Yellow Wings Keepaway - 5 Rings

Since the post about Matthew Dear's remix of The XX I went on to dig for a 7 inch only remix he did for Colder from 2005. This is one of the first hints at Matthew doing guitar/organic feeling based material and pulling back on the electronics which just sounded natural to have him work with. Yesterday jonathan suggested I check out The Mary Onettes and i'm glad I did, it opened up a 4am search thru sugary Swedish post rock on iTunes. If you liked The [...]
10 for 2010: #10 Keepaway We've talked about Keepaway before , but I don't think our 10 to watch in 2010 series would be complete without them. And I'm not just saying that because they're our friends. In many ways, Keepaway, with their guitar, drums and synth combo, are typical of the Brooklyn Electronic/Indie scene. But after seeing them live at Piano's last Sunday night, I feel that they are much more than typical. In a small venue, with limited resources, they were able to take the sound of their studio tracks to [...]

Few times I've swung the other way. Recently, however, all women. Personal preference. Lifestyle choice. Things change though. Pressured back into it. Necessity. Crept up on me. Otherwise. Could end up on the streets. Wandering. Homeless. Bum. Bite the bullet. Trawled. Creeped. Pounded. Knocked. Grilled. Interrogated. Stripped bare. Hollow. At least I found somewhere to [...]

IN , an incredibly unique band name. Look them up on Google and tell me what you find. My guess is nothing. This trio of three young men from Brooklyn, New York hid their music in with the simplest of names, making them nearly impossible to find. The word "in" is found in almost every website ever created, finding their music is like finding a needle in a haystack or a Super Bowl ring on a Minnesota Vikings' finger... impossible. Lucky for us, they decided to change their name from IN to [...]

Keepaway I was recently home for Thanksgiving and while hanging out at my friends place in the burbs of Boston I ran in to our mutual friend Nicholas Nauman . It took us both a second to realize who one another were. Then I blurted out, "Wow, you look so different" to which he had basically the same response. Probably due to the fact that we had not seen each other since we were Jr's or Sr's in high school. At that time Nick had very short hair, which he [...]
