Remember when Canibus was the next big star? His Beasts From The East feature will go down as on of the top ten features of all time in hip hop music. You can't deny that. Well, anyway, Canibus and Keith Murray are joining forces as The Undergods . Here's two new hip hop songs from the duo. The first, Die Big Time, features Crooked I. The second, The Undergods Are Coming features exclusively Canibus. Download: The Undergods featuring Crooked I - Die Big Time | The Undergodz - The [...]

If you're a Crooked I stan like I am, today is a good day. Because we've been blessed 36 new broken bottle bars from the 213's illest emcee. "My Story," from Mickey's Mick's Tape compilation of up & coming New West artists, shows Crook taking a reminiscent look at life alongside fellow barsmiths One-2 and Ya Boy over another smooth, top-back-windows-down-Sweet-up Komplex-produced banger. The Treacherous Records MVP also lends some murder to newly-formed veteran duo of Keith Murray and Canibus, The Undergods , for a cut [...]

Thix mixtape is 67 tracks including exclusive tracks, rare remixes, and extremely hard to find breaks. The Diggers Union have looked to redefine the art of crate digging with their latest effort You Call That Digging? Vol. 1. Track Listing: 1. DJ Unexpected- Can You Dig It? (Intro) 2. Turbulence- Notorious (Dubplate) DJ Casper aka The 1200 Terrorist (Tampa, FL) "The TAMPA Proof Mix" 3. Average White Band- Schoolboy Crush 4. [...]
I can't really tell where this duo's content is going to fit into today's current music landscape. It doesn't sound outdated, but it's not earth-shattering, genre bending music either. Keith & Crook both shine on their verses but it's as if Canibus didn't even show up, at least not from the perspective of me & my speakers. Right now, I'd have to say Masta Ace & Ed O.G. , formally known as A&E, > the Undergods when it comes to generational rappers forming duos to attempt comebacks. What I can tell you is the added in [...]
New hip hop music from The Undergodz featuring Crooked I . The track is called Show & Prove , and features what you'd come to expect from Keith Murray, Canibus, and Crooked I: raw lyricism. The Undergodz album is going to be insanely dope. You gotta love the resurgence of these groups/duos in hip hop music in 2009 (Slaughterhouse, the resurgence of the Wu Tang Clan, Buckshot and KRS-1, etc.). Props to 2dopeboyz . Evan Dando is a living legend to those of us who grew up in the '80s and '90s when alternative rock had just been given a name. Some diehard fans of the Lemonheads still think it's blasphemous that he has been and still is recording and touring under the name "Lemonheads", even though he's the only original member still with the band. However, for anyone who is a fan of hits such as "Into Your Arms" and "It's a Shame About Ray" and wants to hear these live, along with reinterpretations of tunes such as [...]

There was a time when if you placed the names "Keith Murray" and "Canibus" together on a song, fans would salivate. I know this isn't that time but I'm not even sure how this duo, calling themselves The Under Gods, would fair in the best of times. Featuring production by Erick Sermon, "1293 may not be the introduction that they want to present to the brave new world of rap listeners. While the punchlines do display some wit, the overall sound & feel of this one sound trite. [...]
Thank God for some new Keith Murray and Canibus! Real hiphop. Download: Keith Murray & Cannibus - 129 (Prod. Erick Sermon)

Straight off the bat coming line drive, not crooked letter I, is the velvet rope sounds of Camp Lo, not to be confused with your campy hoes. late 90's everything was go, and these guys made their mark beyond their few singles by being included with Jay Z, De La, and Will Smith (the rapper). But whatever, Uptown Saturday Night weaves a world you wish you were living in (no 2 am Poppa Johns), and is well to listen to. Fingerbanger 1 : Camp Lo - Coolie High (don lowed) This [...]
In ongoing coverage of the meltdown of Nathan from Waaves at the Primavera Festival in Spain last week, which was reportedly a result of "mixing ecstasy valium and xanax (sic)", Pitchfork reports that Waaves' entire European tour is cancelled. * Keith Murray of We Are Scientists remembers his high school prom for the Bowery Presents/826NYC. It's worth [...]

Best hip hop album out right now: better than, Em , Busta , Jada , ANYTHING! Yeah, I said it! The lead single was aight but did not do this album justice - it was no indicator of how good Blackout! 2 really is. It's like they haven't missed a step since the original Blackout! but it doesn't at all sound dated. Check it: Method Man & Redman feat Keith Murray - "Errbody Scream" [Sharebee mp3 download link via Splash ] [...]

DAY 2 Just to get it out of the way from the very beginning, I would like to hereby declare all Day Twos of future Harvest of Hope Fests as [...]

2008 was a very eventful year for indie rock. If you're reluctant to read through the archives of TRUST ME ON THIS, this year-end retrospective is a crash course in some of my favorite bands. I'll take you month by month through twelve stellar releases in 2008 by bands both new and old, along with some highlights from my concert photography adventures in the last year: janvier: Field Manual by Chris Walla (January 29, Barsuk) (download "Sing Again" ) [...]

Opening a sold out show is no easy feat. You know the crowd is there for the headliners and those that have shown up in time for your set really need to be impressed and that's what The Whigs did on the second of their two night stint at the Electric Factory. The threesome played energetic, gritty rock featuring beautiful riffs, heavy vocals and energetic beats. The half full venue enjoyed the Whigs' energy, solid set and infectious stage presence. At one point, these Georgia guys made an awkward joke [...]

On October 25, 2008, We Are Scientists ( W.A.S. ) opened with The Stills for Kings Of Leon . The band is made up of two key players, Keith Murray on guitar and lead vocals and Chris Cain on bass guitar and backing vocals. Their hour long set was filled with non-stop music that rocked the crowd in their wild science experiment. After hearing their recorded music and now hearing their live music, their live performance out weighs their recorded. W.A.S. put on an outstanding, enthusiastic, [...]

It might be me but pumpkin beer taste like ass, not that I think ass-flavored beer would taste like Blue Moon's Pumpkin Spice, but you get the point. "Indian Summer?" Maybe here in Wisconsin it should be called "Indian Weekend" cause that cold witches tit whip has hit, and hit hard (the dirty part in me kinda likes it). It goes by so quickly, "Oh how beautiful the leaves are turning" turns into "Crap! I got to rake up these F'n leaves… DAMN IT." Hey, at least you don't have to mow the lawn any more. Mr. Lif [...]

The Wackness is a movie about a kid named Luke Shapiro living in New York city in the 90's. The soundtrack - and in my opinion the movie - is great. Apparently everyone in the audience for the Los Angeles premier was given a purple mix tape. Fortunately, its up for download ! Here's the track list: THE A SIDE 1. The Notorious B.I.G. "Party And Bullshit" 2. Boogie Down Productions "Duck Down" 3. Brand Nubian "Punks Jump Up To Get Beat Down" [...]
