It's a holiday celebrated by few, but those few treat it like Christmas morning. In fact, some might consider it better than Christmas morning: Record Store Day. Since its inception in 2007, countless vinyl enthusiasts have woken up - on Saturday morning, no less - to patrol the streets in their pajamas, eventually taking up real estate outside their favorite record store, all in the hopes that they'll snag priceless soon-to-be artifacts that, more or less, give them bragging rights. It's relentless, it's addicting, but it's pastime. Consequence of Sound looks forward to [...]

From singing for Moby, to bringing it home in country, Kelli Scarr is fast becoming the rock world's connection to the kind of nostalgic Americana found in places like her hometown of Folsom, California. With a voice recalling the breathiness of Feist, coupled with the lyrical fury of Miranda Lambert, Scarr's music is every bit as approachable as it is powerful. Her new single 'Dangling Teeth' is gently lulling, taking it's time and offering the listener a preview of what's to come on her sophomore LP of the same name due out June 5th on [...]
Brooklyn songwriter Kelli Scarr has had her fingers in a number of interesting projects over the past five years, from a two-year stint in Moby's touring band to her work with some local indie bands and fronting the electro-acoustic outfit Color of Clouds . But even with her foray into the intimate, starkly defined neo-folk of her excellent 2010 album Piece , nothing prepared us for the dramatic left turn into the wide-open Americana of her forthcoming new album Dangling Teeth arriving June 5 (Silence Breaks). [...]
Kelli Scarr has done a lot of things in not a lot of time. The singer songwriter sang vocals on Moby's Wait for Me , was a member of popular Boston band Moonraker , and just last year released her beautiful record, Piece . We were lucky enough to have her headline our April 16 showcase at Pianos where we recorded a new track entitled "Phoenecia". Watch the video and download the free live MP3 below.

Yes, it's true; new music from Knox Road favorite , Color of Clouds! Dan sent us their new four-song EP, Tiny Hammers , to be digitally released May 17, and it shows a new side to CoC. I'm providing the track "Sleep" below, as it best represents the slight change in sound. Kelli Scarr's vocals are still in tip-top shape, but this time, she sounds a little more raw, passionate, and soulful, while guitar-rock drives the sound. When I told Dan I thought the sound was different than in the past (not in a bad way!), he replied, [...]

What are you doing this Saturday? I know I speak for everyone at The Wild Honey Pie when I say we'd love to see you at Pianos for our next 'The Wild Honey Pie Presents' show! Celebrate Foursquare Day 2011 in style with Kelli Scarr , The Wools , Indian Rebound , plus a very special guest set from one of my favorite bands. You don't have to be a Foursquare user to join in on the fun. Tickets are only $10, and the music will [...]
It's still Sunday so it still feels right to post this sexy (NSFW) laid back video directed by an experimental filmmaker Matt Lambert. The images are gorgeous and well thought out. It's convenient that the accompanying song is of an equal caliber so you can easily watch this video ten times through without loosing interest. You can stream the finished portion of the album on the J. Viewz site and it sounds perfect for a lazy sunday spent in bed. I'll have to remember that next week. [...]

J.Viewz video for "Oh, Somethings Quiet" (Directed by Matt Lambert) It's Sunday morning, again. Shake off the sleep, have some hair-of-the-dog, and get overloaded with music. Urge Overkill - "Effigy" Luke Rathborne - "I Can Be One" Lab Coast - "Really, Realize" Cheyenne Marie Mize - "I Called You Back" (cover of Bonnie Prince Billy) J.Viewz - "Oh, Something's Quiet" (featuring Kelli Scarr) YELLE - "Safari Disco [...]
When I received J.Viewz latest video I wasn't sure if it really suits Nite Versions' type of music. However, I really liked it - the video is sensual and the music is delightful. The single features Kelli Scarr (also known by her work with Moby). Video directed by experimental filmmaker Matt Lambert and the song will be featured on J.Viewz upcoming album.
Driftwood I got a copy of Kelli Scarr's Piece and normally speaking I'm not highly inspired by female vocalists. This one stood out to me. Her voice has a tenderness, a gossamer quality, it feels very intimate. It's beautiful, serene, and easy to listen to. What's great about this album is the sense of 'feeling' in it. You can tell that Piece is largely a reflection of Kelli's life. It's extremely personal, and could probably accompany a scrapbook of her journeys in life. This album is worth picking [...]

Spoiler alert: Brooklyn's Kelli Scarr will be on that list. The calming melodies found in Kelli Scarr 's debut LP, Pieces , will undoubtedly make the changing of the [...]

m Salt to the Sea - Kelli Scarr ( Buy ) Kelli Scarr's breathtakingly beautiful voice mimics what only I can picture an angel sounding like on her album Piece . She is a little bit Regina Spektor , a little bit Maria Taylor , and a little bit Feist . Scarr is also one of a kind with a little bit of a country folk background in many of her tracks, as well as a plethora of melancholy ballads on her album. She is no stranger to [...]
Maybe you remember her from a collaboration with Moby. Maybe it's the Brooklyn indie hipster in you that once loved Moonraker. Kelli Scarr is back this time, solo, and beautiful. And we're back! It's been a while but this ridiculous festival took a lot out of me. I've been to Lake Tahoe, CA in the winter time before but this was the first time I've ever experienced Tahoe in the summer. I doubt I'll be the first one to tell you that it's gorgeous this time of year. With the air at a mild 80 degrees, not a cloud in sky, and the majestic backdrop of the mountain landscape, one could easily enjoy themselves even without the music and culture that Wanderlust Yoga & Music Festival provided. [...]
Last year's Wanderlust Yoga & Music Festival was blooming with the latest and greatest of indie rock with acts like Common, Spoon, Andrew Bird, Jenny Lewis, Broken Social Scene, Gillian Welch, Girl Talk, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings, Rogue Wave, Amanda Palmer, Kaki King , and Mates of State . That's quite an epic line-up for a festival in the mountains of Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe, CA. However, there must have been a bunch of letters sent to the organizers of Wanderlust saying, "Hey! How 'bout in 2010...you quit with the indie rock crap and [...]
Kelli Scarr is nothing if not multi-talented -- and exceptionally busy. From playing guitar and singing as an integral member of Moby's band on his last album tour, scoring a variety of films, fronting a variety of indie bands over the years (Moonraker, Salt and Samovar), Scarr was most recently a member of Color of Clouds an electroacoustic folk/pop trio that released their fine full-length debut Satellite of Love in February. But through all the transition and projects -- and raising her 3-year-old son -- the Brooklynite still found time to craft her own songs. Piece [...]
