A founding member of the hiphop/ jazz group A Tribe Called Quest, Q- Tip's musical career has expanded for well over 25 years. Even though reunions of the legendary hiphop group rarely occur, the hiphop aficionado has been keeping busy through collaborations with Mac Miller, Busta Rhymes, Roc Maciano, and more. The Hangout organizers presumably intend the word "Hangout" to be read with leisurely fellowship in mind, and certainly that matches the vibe here in Gulf Shores. But one passable alternate reading is "hang out" as in "Letting it all hang out," as in my bare gut protruding across my belt line, as in eating something called the Damn It To Hell Sandwich that will undoubtedly contribute to that gut's expansion, as in then dipping my legs into a swimming pool while sipping beer and watching live music. Sun; pouring rain; more sun; more pouring rain - the Sweetlife Festival definitely had its share of weird early summer weather. But none of that detracted from the experience that was had listening to the bands playing there last Saturday. If anything, the pouring rain added to the religious experience - especially during Phoenix's set. Honestly, I told my friend earlier in the week that I plan to move somewhere in the UK, solely for all the good music that will be surrounding me. Karma Kid lets loose a free download of his Kendrick Lamar edit for ' Swimming Pools '. The single was a huge club hit for Kendrick, but Karma Kid gives the entire song under a deep, down-tempo'd garage makeover. The finished product is a groovy tune that encapsulates all of the energy of the original while still crossing into other genres, production wise.
