Alright, so a reflection of my age would be that I experienced very real pangs of nostalgia yesterday evening thanks to the band Thrice , a band who I first heard at my very first Warped Tour, while finding myself at their shows over the years through my work with Invisible Children . Watching them evolve as a band while still in my formative years made them consistently relevant, they emerged from their Warped tour post-hardcore aggression and found their voice, sonically- as experimental rock music, expansive and intricate- but with the weight of Thrice's powerhouse instrumentation. [...]
Filed under: The Hit List , Free MP3 Download of the Day Though it was once considered a concert exclusively for jam band fans and classic-rock revivalists, Bonnaroo has evolved into one of the most diverse musical events of the year and a standout among the countless summer festivals. This year's impressive lineup features some of the biggest names in indie rock, electronica, dance and even comedy. With Bonnaroo 2010 less than a week away, Spinner is here to help you prep for the big weekend before you pack your [...]

Edited to add: Yes, people, I know Kevin Devine's newly released "Ballad of St. Fred" is a mashed up cover of Fred Durst songs. (Thus the actual meaning behind the blog title) You don't need to tell me. I thought it painfully obvious to write a blog about how hilarious yet actually good the track was so I decided to write this instead. But no one seems to understand that I was trying to be funny. Blogging FAIL. According to Kevin Devine , his latest track, "The [...]
With MGMT's much buzzed about sophomore album Congratulations hitting stores today, the Brooklyn-based act has revealed their summer touring plans. Andrew VanWyngarden & Ben Goldwasser , who kicked off a sold out two-night stand at the legendary Fillmore in San Francisco last night, will mix headlining shows with a handful of festival appearances including scheduled stops at Coachella, Bamboozle & Lollapalooza. If you're not into a night with a psych-rock act, than maybe you'll be interested in hitting one of these [...]
This is a story about a lawsuit filed against the Bonnaroo Music Festival . Let us preface it by noting that there is chance it's nothing more than a well-thought out April Fool's Joke. But, as you'll see, the plaintiff in the case has a history of doing this stuff, which makes the likelihood of this story quite possible. Anyway, here goes it. Bonnaroo is a Tennessee based music festival. This year's edition, set to take place from June 10-13, features the likes of Jay-Z, Stevie Wonder, Dave Matthews Band, and Kings of Leon. Dr. [...]

If a friend of mine hadn't made me a copy of the album 'Split The Country Split The Street' last year, then Kevin Devine would have been just another name in small print at the bottom of the Coachella poster that I wasn't very familiar with. But now that I have said copy of cd and have grown to love it, Mr. Devine is on my "must see" list for the festival. * 'No One Else's Problems' MP3

Andy Hull - "The Only One" from his new split 7" with Kevin Devine.

When I first heard that Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra were going to release covers each other's songs, I was giddy with excitement. Well the songs have now surfaced and these songs have officially made my day. Spinner.com currently has the songs (KD covering MO's "The Only One" and MO covering KD's "I Could Be With Anyone" ) streaming over on their website and free for download. If free isn't your thing, tomorrow the KD/MO split (aptly titled I Could Be The Only One ) will be available to purchase . These covers [...]
Manchester Orchestra have teamed with Kevin Devine to release a two-song digital single. The set sees Manchester Orchestra cover Devine's "I Could Be With Anyone", while Devine returns the favour with his rendition of the band's "I Could Be the Only One". You can hear both tracks right here: The single can be purchased here. Manchester Orchestra plays The Mod Club in Toronto on March 27th.

I heard about the split Kevin Devine / Manchester Orchestra EP quite a few months back, from Mister Devine during an interview that will be hitting TRACER Magazine shortly. To be completely honest, while the prospect of a new tune by Kevin (Especially a cover, as that, in my opinion, is one of his strongest points) wa [...]

It's been a while since we saw Linfinity play at Pianos , so it seems even stranger that it has taken this long for the band to get around to releasing their debut album. American Myth will release Linfinity's Martian's Bloom on April 27. If you just can't wait, the band will be playing at Brooklyn Bowl ( 61 Wythe Ave, Brooklyn ) tonight. They'll be opening for Kevin Devine , and the show is free (though donations for Haiti will be requested at the door)!

Get your butt out of the house this week and have some fun!

I love Manchester Orchestra, and have just now started getting into Kevin Devine's music. His tunes are proving to be great as well, but I found a cover project over at Spinner randomly today that had them cover each others' songs. Both covers are great, and whenever something strikes my fancy, you know I'll be sharing it on here. So, check out the covers below and enjoy. Filed under: Songs , Exclusive If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, then Kevin Devine and Manchester Orchestra are showing their mutual respect and love for each other's music with the release of a two-song bundle of covers, a fitting concept for two artists with similar pop sensibilities. Manchester Orchestra tackle Devine's 'I Could Be With Anyone' and Kevin takes a stab at MO's 'The Only One,' a song he describes as "arguably my favorite." "It's definitely one of [...]
