Toronto - The holiday season is an interesting time of year, one in which one's usual resitance to things that might be considered slightly corny or cheesy are in fact actually embraced. Christmas specials we've seen dozens of times over, albums by Mariah Carey, all of them are kind of OK at this time of the year. When this tendency to like Christmassy stuff is combined with a solid lineup of Canadian talent, it turns into something very much like the Andy Kim Christmas concert. The annual charity event, now in it's seventh year, was raising funds this night for Julliette’s [...]

Who doesn’t love an impromptu concert by a popular indie band? Nobody, that’s who. So when A.V. Club Chicago broke the news late Tuesday that Toronto super collective Broken Social Scene would perform a free show somewhere in town, our interest was piqued. All principle members including frontman Kevin Drew, guitarist Andrew Whiteman, bassist Brendan Canning, drummer Justin Peroff, guitarist Sam Goldberg, singer Lisa Lobsinger and horn section appeared on an especially erected stage under an “occasionally perfect” Heineken billboard directly across from Wrigley Field. Drew professed his love for Chicago, mentioning [...]

So everyone's favourite indie-songstress-turned-intern ational-superstar Feist is releasing her highly anticipated fourth album Metals on October 4th. Will it be as good as The Reminder ?
